He had a weak tour guide IMO.

I just watched it. Yes, he made some poor choices. Crescent City Steakhouse did not look good.

Yeah, first time in NO and you go to a steakhouse?!? Roast beef poboy from Parkway?!? He def needed better intel on where to go in the city. Hats off to him though for not sugarcoating what he did not like.

He built his entire platform on steaks and went there after going to 7 other touristy places. Pretty fair video.

Are you saying this is good or bad?

Because unless something has changed parkway was certainly better than all of the official staples.

He knocked the roast beef po boy for the beef being bland. Loved the fried shrimp. I can see an outsider eating his first po boy thinking that about the roast beef.

Its the same criticism he had - its somewhat bland. Otherwise, I love Parkway.

I can see Guga thinking that because he seasons his food including steaks with salt, pepper and garlic powder.

Having said that, there are a lot of northern folks who barely touch salt and they think about black pepper the way we think about cayenne so I think there are plenty of tourists that wouldn't even notice if the roast beef is bland.

My beef with Guga is he always sears his steaks on the pit and usually uses wagyu so I'm not sure there are too many steak houses that he will enjoy as much as what he cooks at home.

I'm with him on muffaletta. I'm sure it's a fine sandwich without the olive salad.

Also, going to NOLA and not having oysters somewhere at least once, is a waste of a trip to NOLA. Even if you're spooked by raw, get some Rockefeller or plain old fried, or on a po boy.

At Parkway? Genuinely asking because I've never had theirs. Is their roast beef shredded or sliced?

I put zero value in Guga’s opinion.

It’s more just sort of mush.

They do a great job with their fried seafood there, but I’m kinda over the way they do roast beef.

He's "Uncle" Guga according to Uncle Roger. Expect his takes to be controversial.

Oh damn .

I'll stick to shrimp & oyster if I ever go then.

Maybe it was R&O I was thinking of that people rave about their roast beef poboy.

Been a long time since I've been but I thought it was bland

Like Y.A. said their fried seafood ones are good. I can even do the surf and turf but the roast beef alone leaves something to be desired iMO
