The administration at High Point Central High School has decided to suspend its varsity football program, according to a report from FOX8 WGHP.
High Point Central finished the 2025 season with an 0-10 overall record. The Bison were shut out in every single game, which added up to a total scoring disadvantage of 523-0.
Each game triggered a running clock. The Guilford County school's closest game was a 37-0 loss to rival Southwest Guilford.

Kinda strange because High Point isn’t exactly a poor wasteland

It doesn't seem possible to go 10 games without scoring a single point. Something else must be going on here

Specifically, this high school has a couple alumni in the NFL too

Veteran LB Germaine Pratt went there…they were a solid program in the past.
They’re inner city, all free and reduced lunch. Used to be in the highest classification in the state but their enrollment is almost half what they used to be. Aside from that, not sure exactly how they’re THAT bad. Only thing I can think of is that they’re surrounded by really strong programs in every direction and they’ve stopped getting anyone who can walk and chew gum at the same time to stay in district.

Notre Dame wants to schedule them twice next year.

If they’re that bad you wonder if the kids are actually able to safely play football in their classification.
I’ve seen a jr high and HS team who would just get obliterated like this because they simply didn’t have any real line players.

Hopefully an SEC team will play them in a bowl next year. Might get a win.

No it was an OL guy with a glass eye and liquor on his breath
I don’t remember the guy’s name.

We had a similar record at the old Lee High School in Baton Rouge. The school was at the very bottom of the number needed for 4A. The school had the district ESL program, so half of the school of the school spelled football with a ú. (We made the state semi-finals in soccer.) None of the players could stay eligible for more than a couple of years. Our entire starting line was freshmen and sophomores. Many of the kids were getting suspended right and left, so some games we played with no more than 20 players. There was no way we were going to beat varsity squads.
