Celebrating 10 year wedding anniversary. This is what I have some up with. We would be taking trains between each of these locations.
Venice: 2 nights
Bolzano: 2 nights
Lake Como Area: 4 nights
Milan: 2 nights
For those that have been to Bolzano, is there a vineyard that you recommend in that area??
For the Lake Como area, I think we would stay in Como City since we want to take a day trip to Lugano, Switzerland, but I could be talked to into another town on the lake (eg, Bellagio or Varenna).
Thank you for your help

We have friends that stayed in Bellagio, and took ferries to various towns on the lake...looking at the map, getting to Lugano from Bellagio would require you to take train to Como and the switch to get on a train to Lugano...

We went this summer. Flew into Milan and stayed two nights. Did the Duomo rooftop tour and the Last Supper. Then went to Varenna and stayed three nights. The train goes right to the station in Varenna. I’d highly suggest staying there. We then went to Venice for two nights, should have only done one. We were there in June, way too many people. Make sure to see Doge palace. We then went to Florence for a week. Loved Florence because there is so much to see and you aren’t far from wineries. You will love it.

Also we wanted to go to Lugano as well but it is a full day. We preferred staying on Lake Como and visiting the towns and some of the mansions.

Bellagio is probably the best place to stay if nothing else is taken into account. Como is fine if it is more convenient as a transportation hub.
When we went to the Lake Region we stayed in Lugano, Switzerland and visited Lake Como (Mennagio) and Stressa.

So many factors here’s OP. Have you been to any of these places? What are your expectations? You can spend a week in the Lake Como general area and not see half of it.
So it’s really about your priorities.
If you have never been to Venice and enjoy seafood. I would consider a 3rd night. Remember you land and have a 1/2 of a jet lagged day. Then a full day not fully rested. So you do your first location dirty.

I agree with this. I have stayed in both Bellagio and Como. Both are lovely. I personally liked the feel of Bellagio more but would do either in a heartbeat. We had a car and if memory serves we took a ferry then drove to Lugano and drove back through Como. Did it as a day trip and absolutely loved it.
