well heilheil, you riding the wrong horse. the guy on trial was one person out of the 350 cops attending that day. His sin, he was one of the first, did not know what was going on, hesitated for 3 whole minutes, trying to understand if there was one shooter, or 3 or 4. Did not know where the person/persons were. The 2 week trial was appropriately settled by the jury in 1 hour .

thats a good question .
I know everyone on here would say "yes id run in that building and stop the shooting at my own risk" but I doubt that there really many that really would. I like to think I would, too.

I don't know. School with children is a pretty strong motivator to try to stop the murdering of innocent children.

yeah but hopefully not a single one of us is ever in that position. And it's very easy to say that youd do it online, but none of us know how wed act in the moment. You can say, "of course id run in" but you do not know that.

No. Cowardly to the point of being worthy of national mockery and disdain, but not illegal.

I absolutely would and I don’t say that lightly. Both the moral imperative and the absolute certainty that if I didn’t I would see the faces of the children I failed to protect every time I closed my eyes would guarantee I’m going in.
Failing to answer that bell would be like condemning yourself to hell every day for the rest of your life being tortured with your cowardice and moral failures and knowing everyone else saw it too is about the worst punishment I could imagine as a man. Better to be dead than that and as a Christian going out trying to or actually saving children is about the best any of us could ask in this world.

Another internet tough guy hiding behind his anonymous keyboard. Types an emotional response to a tragic incident yet offers no validity to his perspective. Likely overweight, under achieving, and unattached to female companionship.

Most of us didn't raise our hand and swear an oath. If you do, you'd better be willing to dance when the band starts to play.
I didn't follow the trial, so I don't know what evidence was presented. On the face of it he seems derelict in his duty.

Neither of which seem life threatening. Despite what the TV shows portray. I have no idea if the officer was derelict or
Not. Sure seems like he was. But a jury of his peers- who knows far more than you or I- ruled to acquit. So maybe- just maybe- there is more to this than any of us sitting in the comfort and safety of our homes know.

Maybe he won’t go to prison, but I’m sure there will br some kind of penalty. Did he get fired? Lose his pension?
Or did they place him on fully paid leave for 3.5 years, give him his job back, and allow him to retire when he chooses with a fully funded pension?

I don’t know how you can live with yourself to just stand there and listen as kids are screaming and being murdered
