Really most playoff games, that we need to get an edge guy that can pressure the qb more than anything.

Helps to have Will Campbell on the other side

Chase Young is amazing and gets all the pressures. Like literally all of them! - Saints Talk

I don’t think he sucks.
- He wasn’t very good last year. Both Bresee and Cam had better stats and were more impactful (Cam on half the snaps).
- He was injured and out the first part of the year. He is injury prone which is a concern.
- He had a really good two or three games to end the season.
- He hustles and plays hard.
- He seems to genuinely like playing here.
- He’s not very good against the run.
- He lacks pass rushing moves. He either runs up the field and out of the play or bull rushes. I saw him do a swim move to the inside against the falcons. That’s how little he does other moves because they stand out.
- He’s on a good contract for us. Much Better than Granderson.
• Overall, he wasn’t very good last year, missed a third of the season this year, but finished as a better than average DE the last 3 games or so. I think that makes him an average to just above average player. But he’s not the elite pass rusher you all want him to be. We need a true pass rusher. That’s my take.

It's an old saying that defense wins championships. Look at the IU/Miami game, both teams had great defenses. As much as I like offense you need a good defense to win it all.

We need play makers on offense. All these teams have good offense and defense. Get the best player available

Young is a good piece on a good contract. He’s not an impact player edge rusher though. We need someone who can bend the corner and actually get to the QB. Somebody like Bailey or Reese.

I don’t necessarily disagree with you—I’d be fine with taking a top edge rusher—but I also saw the value of playmakers at the WR position yesterday. Nacua and SmithNjibgba (sp?) do sooo much to help their qb’s.

The Saints had a top 10 (total) defense this season. One spot behind New England and three spots behind Seattle. The difference is both Seattle and New England also had top 10 offenses. The Saints were 23rd. And that was only after Shough was able to have some good games late.
The Saints are in a spot where a player at just about any position makes sense at 8. But I think if you are discussing which side of the ball needs the most help now, it would be the offense. The interior OL is below average, and the WR and RB group is probably average, at best.
