We have Vrabel, a first year coach in NE taking over a team that won 4 games last year, headed to the Super Bowl. They face off against a team led by Sam Darnold, in his first season in Seattle after having a damn good season in Minnesota last year.

The Titans and Vikings are consistently flailing their arms in the deep end. The Adams family is known best for sticking it to Houston, and Zygi Wilf’s tenure as Vikes owner hasn’t yielded anything of note. Even when those teams do have successful regular seasons, you can bank on them shitting down their leg in the playoffs.

On the flip side, you can’t deny what the Kraft era has yielded in New England, and the same in Seattle ever since Allen bought the team and especially since John Schneider has been on staff.

It really emphasizes how much winning is influenced by the top of the organization.

Need the right combination of a good GM that has support of the owner combined with an effective coach.

Les Snead is a major reason the Rans have success. He knows how to build a solid team.

Seattle, to their credit, has a very good roster this year. Clear they had a vision of the team they wanted and it paid off.

For all of us kids born in the 80s, the Patriots have been to the super bowl every single decade that we've been alive. That's the true power of committed ownership that is willing to hire and put the right people in place while firing mediocrity. Kraft and his masseuse are insane.

The last 5 coaches that the Patriots hired-

Bill Parcells- went to 3 Super Bowls won 2
Pete Carroll- went to 2 Super Bowl won 1
Bill Belichick- went to 9 Super Bowls won 6
Jerod Mayo- won 4 games
Mike Vrabel- went to Super Bowl in his first year

I doubt Mayo will ever get another head coaching job.

I think it’s just a way to show the quality of hires.

Parcells had won 2 super bowls, and took the pats to a Super Bowl.
Carroll had some mediocre success, then went on a great run at usc and Seattle.
Of course Belicheck and Brady.
Mayo sucked.
Vrabel was good at Tennessee, ownership destroyed that team.

I think we’re being a little harsh here to the Vikings, who’ve won 12 plus games 2 out of the last 4 seasons and won 7/8 games in the other in one of the tougher divisions in football.

Darnold situation looks bad in hindsight, but they did take JJ when at the time Darnold was viewed as a backup, and that created a scenario where he was going to leave to ensure a starting spot.

Taking JJ itself appears to be a tough decision in what ended up being a great QB class, but I don’t think they are treading in Titans waters yet
