For the record, I believe football should be played outside regardless of the conditions

However, I saw a tweet from one of those griping about NE-Denver yesterday that actually offered a cogent defense of his position and made me at least stop and consider what he was saying even though at the end of the day I still disagree with him.
His point was that the game in 2026 has progressed far beyond the old days of “snow and ice bowls” as far as strategy and play calling and execution to the point where it’s unfair to expect present-day teams to regress to the past and to tradition when so much is at stake.
Thoughts?

Those two teams yesterday couldn’t move the ball in a dome
The weather angle is kinda a farce for that game. Nothing was happening at all for the almost 75% of the game in good weather.
Eagles rams last year we saw scoring
Bengals bills this year we saw scoring
Etc etc
It was just two bad offenses going at it with QBs that underperformed

He is right.
All teams should have domes so that all games are played in optimal weather conditions. I do not care about snow or rain or "old school mentalities".
Football is for entertainment. I want to see the best possible product.

They both played with cards from the same deck. The weather was the best part of that game, please don't eliminate any more outdoor stadiums.

The game yesterday sucked. You were barely watching football because of the conditions. Crazy to play a whole season and your super bowl hopes die because you can't even see.

The game yesterday sucked.
The weather was the only entertaining part of the game

Box score

Only 7 completed passes the entire second half. 3 for the Patriots, all in the 3rd quarter. So zero 4Q completed passes for New England.
In the second half, the Broncos completed 4 passes for a total of 10 yards.
It wasn't just the snow, the wind was brutal as well. Look at the kickers. So many comments made throughout the year about how good the NFL kickers are in present times. Yet neither kicker could make a kick in Denver yesterday.
Neither of these teams play a 1960s brand of football for the 17 regular season games, but yesterday turned into a George Halas' Bears against Vince Lombardi's Packers pushing match.

That’s right. And the better team won.

In the first half the Pats completed 6 total passes and had 67 total yards in completely normal weather
Nothing was happening because the two offenses sucked

That game was dogshit regardless of the weather, which rolled in for the 4th quarter by the way.
They had 3 full quarters with no snow and didn’t do jack shite

The weather in the 2nd Half of Broncos/Pats is the ultimate equalizer. The game was going to be decided by the ground game and field position. Peak Tom Brady with peak Randy Moss wasn’t going to do much in those conditions.
If there ever was a time Tim Tebow/Taysom Hill to shine other than as a change of pace then I would have been the second half of this game.

If only Josh Allen wouldn't have had 4 turnovers he prior week we could have seen better offensive play yesterday.

An NFL QB turned around and threw the ball backwards yesterday before it was snowing. I don't think this is the hill to die on for indoor only games.

The people who would say this want progress for progress’s sake in all walks of life without stopping to consider whether it’s good or not. If teams now can’t adapt to the conditions, and snow and wind and ice will pop up at some point, they deserve to lose just like every team before them. If they don’t like the conditions, they could always win more games in the regular season and earn home field advantage in different conditions
