I don't mind the drug legalization and the gays. Trans is not a real thing (it's mental illness and/or attention seeking).

I like parental leave for both parents after the birth of a child. My wife and I had it when our son was born and it was incredibly helpful. In our case, it got both of us back to work at 100% faster than we would've if we went back as zombies right away. It also gives the middle class a chance to reproduce and maybe turn the tide.

Truth is, the entire right in the MAGA/populism era is probably more collectivist than in prior decades and arguably trending even more so.

It's not open ended, of course, but I think there is a notion for many that embracing family/community concepts even with some governmental intermingling (more likely on local levels than nationally) is superior to pure individualism and extreme prioritization of the free market.

Some of that is ideological and some of it is pragmatic. We loved the free market concepts and the free market in reality often didn't love us back and undermined what we cared about. It's also harder to stem the tide as a bunch of individuals terrified of anything that resembles a collectivist system, even in small systems.

I don’t care if two gay dudes want to do their thing.

BUT, don’t shove it down my throat. I don’t want to see that shite.

Actual “liberal” policies or leftist policies? There is a significant difference.

I have some liberal beliefs like when it comes to freedom of speech. I think people have snuck in leftist to mean liberal in the vernacular and people push back on that.

Serious answer. I'm kind of pro union. Yes, I know there's the potential for corruption within unions, but I've seen the good that can come from collective bargaining.

More than anything, I'm a checks and balances guy. Yeah, the market is the ultimate decider... until it's not. When corporations and government collude to squeeze the little guy, then I have a problem with it. That's why I want corrupt politicians purged. Crony capitalism is another version of trickle-down economics. Works great for a while, then the trickle stops.

Yeah, that's what I thought 20 something years ago. "Sure, who cares if they just want to get married for legal reasons."

Look where the fricked up trans bullshite it got us.

God, I was a dumbass.

I get your point, but I certainly don't think it's any less collectivist than before in any meaningful way. I don't think the libertarian right is any stronger and the fusionist/establishment right certainly isn't stronger.

But yes, you can be on the right and not be participating in this shift - but I think the right is arguably leaving you behind and you may be in no man's land. Which is resulting in some pretty odd scenarios, where people in those positions are gravitating to non-libertarian, non-establishment Republican views and groups because they don't really have any other place to ply their influence anymore. So many anti-Trumpers are like this.
