What’s up with Hispanic women with a kid selling flowers at intersections?

I see this all the time in Houston. Does this happen everywhere? And they always have a kid with them which makes me immediately think they are there for sympathy. And when I sense they’re trying to play on people’s emotions, it feels gross and exploitative and makes me wonder if there is more going on here, as if it’s part of some larger operation. Then I wonder if it’s even the woman’s kid.
Does anybody here have any insight about this? What’s really going on here?

It is an epidemic up here in DFW. I have heard a theory/rumor(no confirmation) that these women are illegal(of course) & being trafficked & they are out there to make money for who is trafficking them & the kids with them are there to assist in the sympathy factor to try to help make more money. It sickens me when I see them at intersections. They have to do something about this.

That crossed my mind. But how much money do they actually make selling flowers at an intersection?
And it’s one thing if it was just people selling something… but the fact that they’re everywhere and they all sell flowers and they all have a kid with them makes me think it’s obviously some sort of operation going on rather than just individuals trying to make some money.

The guy who picks up all their husbands at home depot drops off a crate of flowers and they sell them until the husbands are dropped back off at home depot

Careful what you say, there are a ton of liberals on this board who will get upset if you speak of doing something about illegal human traffickers. They are protesting and fighting their own government to protect them.

They're all over here in Vegas although it's more likely to see a man solo or an abuela...usually they'll have a handful of buckets with them and slightly behind the scenes in the shadows there will be another one with a few buckets of flowers either waiting to sub in, or waiting to re-up the main guy.

I saw a Hispanic woman with her kid holding a sign begging for money outside a Publix once. She was hot enough to be a hooker so I didn’t really feel any sympathy. Come to the US you better be prepared to work. Not take handouts.
The flower racket has been around a long time. I’m have old hispanic women try to sell long stem roses in Chicago a lot. I think since that stuff is common in their countries they must think it will work here
