There seems to be a lot of confusion & backlash, especially from the Christian community, about Kid Rock‘s performance during TPUSA‘s All-American Halftime Show.

I believe I can clear things up…

Kid Rock started his set by performing “Bawitdaba”, which came out in 1999. It a vulgar song, referencing topless dancers, drinking, crooked cops, bastards, etc. Hearing that was a shock to a lot of us. Rightfully so. It felt worldly, which I believe was the point…

Next, there was an acoustic set with two people playing a Christian hymn. It was meant to be an emotional bridge to what came next…

Finally, it transitioned to Kid Rock, his stage name, being introduced back to the stage as Robert Ritchie, his birth name. He then played a revised version of “Til’ You Can’t”, which included lyrics about Jesus Christ. He also spoke about Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, encouraged people to follow Christ, and to read their Bibles.

This was supposed to be an artistic way of portraying a redemption story.

I don’t know Kid Rock’s walk with Christ, but he used this moment to point people to Christ, and I rejoice in that (Philippians 1:15-18)

I dragged the Kid Rock lip sync last night. Hard.

But this take stopped me in my tracks. The lip sync was only on Bawitdaba — the old life.

The live performance was the redemption.

That's not a production failure. That's a statement.

Credit where it's due.

If that was intentional — I respect it.

We all have our different ways to understand Jesus and Christianity.
I have gone full circle from a Darwin fish on my Jeep knowing that version of evolution was nonsensical to a being a believer, albeit not necessarily an organized religion believer, but a believer.

Kudos to him.

Name the last performer who performed the Super Bowl live.

If you said The Weeknd, you are correct. If you go back and watch it, you’ll see why people don’t do that. If you can’t tell the difference, your ears are shite.

Are people too dumb to not see that kid Rock came out in shorts and a T-shirt and was purposely lip syncing to make fun of his past self? Did people not realize that when he returned back to stage they called him out by his real name and not kid Rock? That was the point of his first song of the night lol he was basically making fun of himself

Whatever

Very few big concerts are totally live. They’re auto tuned and have vocals added. They’ll typically run a percentage of live vocals to keep some organic live-ness to it.

There were parts that were obviously live. But if it was 100% live, I’d be utterly shocked. That’s not a knock. It’s just the reality of today’s live performances.

I will freely admit that I didn’t catch the symbolism of what he was doing as I watched it. I was initially bummed out when I saw him lip syncing. I even told my wife I didn’t know why he would do that and do it so poorly knowing the left would have a field day with it on social media.

But now understanding the concept of what he was doing, it’s pretty cool. I still wish they would have had some better artist on the show with him. That first band was absolute trash.

My god, what a genius!

He’s the conservative Bob Dylan!

The art has always been over our heads, intellectually.

Bawitobawdabangydangdiggity indeed!

Basically he was showing that the past cray, sinful Kid Rock was not a serious person.

This new Kid Rock has converted to Christianity.

The TPUSA concert seems like it was pretty lame.

Why are people still talking about this? The only correct thing to do here was to not tune in to either because they were both trash. Instead, you're doing a full academic dissertation of frickin Kid Rock performing Bawitdaba.
