Anyone flying out of MSY today? Has the partial shutdown impacted lines and timing. Flying out in the morning and I am trying to see if I need to leave earlier than usual. Thanks.

Flew out of MSY a couple days ago and there was a lot more people coming in than going out. Walked right through TSA.
I'd give at least 30 minutes for TSA today though. Also, parking garages are looking pretty full.

My wife and her daughter left this morning for S.F. and I got them to the airport a little after 4 a.m. with their flight scheduled to leave at 6.
I heard from my wife that it was on time, but the TSA crap was a PITA.
Have no clue if anything happened after that to slow things down.
Oh, and it was already a madhouse at the drop-off area with lots of folks catching flights.

Flew out of MSY at 6:20. Parked at 4:30 and through TSA by 5:15. My 5 and 3 y/o came through pre check with me with no issues. Wife and MIL took a while to get through.

Probably be a few weeks before the shutdown really affects TSA.
Once they start missing paychecks people start finding other ways to work

MSY has a partial shutdown enacted every year for Mardi Gras this is nothing new.

Did she have pre-check?
All I know is she had her boarding pass via her cellphone. I haven't flown in over 40 years, so I have no clue about protocol at the airports now but I understand it is a PITA to deal with all the security.

Flew out around noon today with my fam. One of the easiest/least busy trips through the airport in recent memory. TSA took 10 min tops.

I try to avoid MSY like a plague this time of year. It's worse than flying during Christmas.

I'm in the airport now. There were only like 20 people in line for TSA.
I'm not sure I've ever got through as fast as I did today.

What sucks about the Dems pushing this partial shutdown of DHS and the Republicans allowing the Dems to do it is that ICE has been fully funded thru 2026 since the big beautiful bill.
It’s not just the TSA and other non-ICE departments as the coast guard is funded thru Homeland for peacetime operations, and they are currently working without pay.
In a funding protest over ICE this is shutting down or affecting everything in Homeland Security but ICE. Just more political theater.

I can smell the ashtrays in this post
Even 90’s up to 9/11 flying was a breeze. Downhill since then

Though I agree with your post I absolutely hate this being added into the reasoning. Especially days after the shut down as they got their last paycheck, and they will get paid. Fed Govt workers know this is a possibility, so have a nest egg. No sympathy deserved from the private sector, for getting delayed pay.
