Best fishing ponds in BR

Just want a spot I can go throw my line out there and catch some bass. Any recs?

Not really. I looked over the years. Most BREC ponds were a big disappointment.

if you dont mind taking a ride the city park ponds in NOLA are super productive. bass are small but a-plenty

Most of the decent spots are in neighborhoods/subdivisions that understandably don't want outside people fishing there. I caught a couple of them behind United Plaza on Essen lane there's a small pond right there. I also caught some in the pond in front of Women's hospital down Airline.

Yeah, any public ponds will be fished out unfortunately. Some subdivision ponds will give you some good bass action , but you risk getting ran off. For being the “sportsman’s paradise” we sure don’t offer much of shite for the boatless.
My best strategies back in the day, were to ask family members who lived in neighborhoods and ask family/friends/parents’ friends if they may have some old farm ponds somewhere. Or you could Scour OnX and look for abandoned ponds and ask the landowners, or find barrow pits on the backside of the levee when the river drops and trespass.

This. Waddill Wildlife Center off Flannery Road and Lamar Dixon Expo Center ponds in Gonzales are your best bet near Baton Rouge.

Pond behind Mike Anderson’s on Lee. Gotta fish that one between 2am and daylight so you don’t get busted. A black tiny torpedo in the southeast corner works well. Not a pond but a glorified ditch in Baker off Lavey Lane between Baskins Robbins and the neighborhood. Black with blue tail Texas rigged worm any afternoon works. No need to hide here. Hwy 30 in Gonzalez behind the Taco Bell. This is another one under the cover of darkness only, big dark colored worm, lizard or creature lure Carolina rigged. This pond by far will out produce in numbers and size. Good luck!

Yea best bet is getting permission from friends or family that have ponds in their neighborhood.
I’ve said it before but the huge pond off Ben Hur where that apartment complex that used to be called the Cottages was absolutely awesome for bass and sac a lait when I lived there from 2012-2014.
Lots of ppl who didn’t lived there also fished it and I guess never got run off.
My biggest went just under 6 and you’d catch 2-3 pounders as much as you’d like.
The bass were all built like footballs with huge bellies. That pond had a ton of shad and the fish just feasted on them.
It’s the best neighborhood pond I’ve ever encountered.
I’ve said it before but the huge pond off Ben Hur where that apartment complex that used to be called the Cottages was absolutely awesome for bass and sac a lait when I lived there from 2012-2014.

I lived and fished there too around that time period and the fishing was great. Used to see deer sometimes in the back of the pond before the woods got bulldozed and turned into housing.

I never saw the deer but their tracks were everywhere especially along the woods side of the pond.
Of course a few would wind up hit along Burbank and Nicholson so you knew they had a good bit.
It was absolutely full of wood ducks and as a hardcore duck hunter at the time, I contemplated how much trouble I’d get in if I went blasting one morning lol.
Shame it’s all developed now with basically no woods left.
The fishing was top notch, at least back then.

Azalea Lake. Park on Lake Iris at the lot. Act like you belong there. No loud music and don’t bring a huge setup.and you should probably be fine.

so just fish around that parking lot since all the land around the lake is private? Anyone try fishing the pond along jefferson that's also part of the Azalea lake subdivision? I guess local residents just walk to it?

The fishing is probably still good bc it’s a huge lake and I’m sure ppl are keeping some. I kept the sac a lait and knew quite a few who did the same.
The problem is it’s private and that complex has a gate. So getting in would be difficult and know idea if they’d run you off.
There is a neighborhood closer to the Burbank side and you may be able to try from there. Not sure if it’s gated or not but on google earth, backyards of houses might be backing up to the lake.
