Call & Write your Congressman: Big Bend is no place for a border wall

New plans to build a border wall through one of country’s iconic national parks, Big Bend National Park, risk permanent damage to the area. Treasured park features like Santa Elena Canyon and the Hot Springs could be permanently damaged. Thriving local communities, night skies and epic landscapes are at risk.
Letter to send to your Congressman courtesy of the National Park Conservation Association.

I oppose the recent proposal from Customs and Border Protection to expand border wall construction through the Big Bend region, including a significant portion of Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park. The proposed wall would tear through some of Big Bend’s most beautiful spots, including the famous Santa Elena Canyon and popular park Hot Springs.
Building a physical border wall through Big Bend National Park would choke off vital wildlife migration routes, intensify flooding risks, and inflict irreparable damage to one of our country’s most iconic national parks. Customs and Border Protection already maintain a presence in Big Bend, given its status as a borderland park, and the current system is not presenting undue burdens on the park. Building physical barriers here makes no logistical sense and only serves to harm the region’s wild scenery and thriving community-based tourism economy.
Harsh desert conditions and unforgiving mountain terrain already form natural barriers along this portion of the border. Please reach out to the Trump administration and call for border security solutions in the Big Bend that don’t destroy this treasured national park.
I visited Big Bend over the Christmas break and it has a special place in my heart. We do not need a border wall that will ruin this magical place in Southwest Texas. Tell your congressman to vote no!

That is ridiculous. Are they really considering putting up a wall in a national park? It won't matter to the cult. frick nature, history and beauty, we have to do what Trump says or he'll call us idiots again.

It would be a shame to have to build a wall there due to the border crisis created by democrats.

You and 225 are showing your ignorance.
Big Bend is a desert and is inhospitable for 6 plus months year with extremely high temparatures with little water or cover from the sun.
There are many stories of people dying in the park.
Nature is our best friend here and we don't need to destroy a beautiful natural landscape.
Being stupid is no way to go through life, bud.

For fricks sake leave the national parks alone

We have found someone who has never experienced our beautiful national parks, and probably never left their home state unless it's to go to Disney World.

Maybe if you and your tribe didn’t encourage illegal immigration, a wall wouldn’t be required. Like many political issues, this is completely man-made and preventable, but here we are anyways because “we are all citizens of the earth” or whatever your motto is this week

What exactly are you referring to?

Parts of the park may need a wall
Obviously the 500 foot high canyon parts dont

Where are they putting the wall specifically? Don't show some cliffs and highlight areas that won't actually be impacted. That's like crying about ANWR and showing huge Alaskan mountains instead of the mosquito ridden coastal hellhole where the drilling would occur.

There’s a lot more at risk than this with unfettered illegal immigration.

How about go frick yourself.
The proposed wall is from Ft Quitman to Redford. And it’s probably not all going to be “wall”. But wall and drone monitoring.
So shut the frick up you cry baby lying little bitch.
