When President Trump delivered his statement at the beginning of military operations against Iran he made the case for attacking Iran primarily on Iran's continued pursuit of a nuclear weapon. Trump also mentioned prior strikes by Iran against US military personnel over the past 40-50 years.

Trump also urged the Iranian people to seize this opportunity to wrest power from the Theocratic Regime and their IRGC apparatchiks, cautioning the Iranian people you may not get another chance at freedom for generations.

Then Trump said the US will see how you respond, this is the moment for action, do not let it pass.

So with this ^^^^ said, what is the endgame?

Is the purpose of the military operation to mortally wound the capabilities of Iran's military to ever have a nuclear weapon?

Is it to decapitate the Theocratic Regime in hopes the Iranian people rise up and take control of the nation and eventually form a government that is more compatible with Western civilization?

Let's say the Iranian military is essentially decimated and the consensus is the Iranian nuclear program is kaput and their missile capabilities are nearly non existent but the Theocracy survives and the IRGC is still capable of providing some security, essentially leaving the Theocratic Regime in power......now what?

If the ultimate goal is regime change and the Iranian people fail to rise up is the US going to try a boots on the ground invasion of Tehran?

Yeah, there's a lot of moving parts and scenarios.

I think these two are joined at the hip. I was thinking yesterday that Iran needs a favorable military leader to step up to oust the religious govt and to keep the Taliban from moving west into Iran. Fortunately, Afghanistan is shooting with Pakistan right now.

It would not surprise me one bit if the US told the Pakistanis that now was the time to settle business with the Afghani's/Taliban

I don’t think we are waiting to see how it turns out. I think the US and Israel are making deals with the next level of leaders. The value proposition is, “You can resist us and die like Khamanei, or you can join us and get a piece of the action.”

If our CIA and other intel agencies are worth a damn they should already have some Iranians geared up ready to bust a move against the Theocratic Regime. This operation will be a rousing success if the Iranian people rise up and form a government that is ready to play nice with its neighbors. If the Theocratic Regime survives I'm not sure what to expect going forward.

Isn't this the playbook of the "Deep State"?

Like how they did this in Iran already with the Shah?

Even a military regime will be a better option than the theocrats. If they dont go then nothing has been achieved
