I’m betting the guys manning that defense system have less than an 8th grade education.

How did 3 of our jets fail to evade being shot down is my question. I'm sure they weren't expecting to be fired upon, but is surprise really our kryptonite?

Not sure the exact situation here but fighters flying at relatively low altitudes at slow speeds look like cruise missiles.

That combined with young/stupid defensive system operators in the fog of war make these situations happen.

Not the first time and unfortunately, won’t be the last.

No personnel was lost, just 100 million dollars worth of fighter jets.

We just lost aircraft, all personnel were recovered and treated for minor injuries.

Im going with they crossed over into Kuwait and assumed their IFF was good enough, so they felt they were relaxed and out of danger.

Were they in some formation returning to base, or 3 separate incidents?

I saw one report where Iran claims they shot them down.

Who knows

Intelligence is 99% of war. Being shot at from an expected direction (aka getting flanked) is something that even superpowers will struggle with. Thats why most of our military power is spent on data generating objectives.

Things slip through the cracks. It should humble us.

The pilots ejected safely. Those jets cost $97 million each. Kuwait needs to publicly apologize and reimburse the cost.

Man, great point. If only they were thinking “I shouldn’t be surprised” then they could have easily executed an ABCDE check.

I’m sure they will call you over there soon to help with the planning.

At least with the two caught on video, they appear to be separate incidents based on the time of day and locations shown. And the rescued pilots are alone when approached by Kuwaitis.

This was bound to happen at least a few times when you have low IQ people operating complex equipment in a busy and hectic warzone. I'd be willing to bet communication between the two entities was pretty much non-existent, or if it was it didn't filter down to Shatheed working the SAM out in BFE Kuwait

Relax, guy. As someone who isn't a fighter pilot, I appreciate your deep expertise on the topic. But your feminine passive attitude could use an adjustment.

I’m not your guy, friend.

There’s a way to ask a question and there’s a way not to. Passive aggressive spears receive sarcasm.

My question was genuine, even if it inadvertently caused you to wet your panties.

Someone else managed to answer without being a little bitch about it. Work on it. I'm sure you can be an adult one day.

My panties are fine. You seem to be the one upset about the sarcastic response to your poorly worded question.

You took it the wrong way. It really isn't my problem.

Metal, I'm sorry my entry into the thread upset you. My intent was to understand, not cause a grown man to weep.
