Eileen gu, born in America but competes for China in Olympics. Normally I’d say that’s unpatriotic and we should kick her out… but China did pay $20m. OT, can your loyalty be bought and if so how many bags of crawfish would it take?

Sounds like a $20M tariff on Chinese olympic medals is in order.

Watch a world women’s golf match. Our whole team is Asian, most don’t speak English. Same could be said about a lot of sports. Look at the US figure skaters. lol.

Yes but difference is they are born here representing here. Eileen born here representing China doesn’t sit well with me

and yet Alyssa Liu has the same heritage and proudly competed for the US
how we celebrate her and ignore the other girl?

I agree with you. I’m saying more should’ve Alyssa and less Eileen. We should revoke citizenship

Maybe she realizes our healthcare system is more f’ed than any developed country or that our president continues to divide people over petty name calling and insecurities.

A 606 gram gold medal has aboot 6 grams of gold in it. Inflation changed the recipe for gold medals.
Are they now goldish medals?

There are rules.
There is definitely an unpatriotic aspect to the decision, but at the same time "is there a reason they are competing for a different country?" I don't recall the reason for Gu, but Mondo represents Sweeden because there are not as many hurdles to making the Swedish track team as there is for the US. There are a number of basketball players that compete for other countries because they could not make the US basketball team and have dual citizenships. Are we denouncing and "kicking them out" as well?

They didn't really buy her loyalty. She still American AF. She goes to school here, she lives here, she trains here, all she does is wear Chinese clothes to compete in and she gets millions more than she would get in the USA. That kind of capitalism is very American,

Liu's father escaped China after Tiananmen Square and they had to deal with a fricking Chinese spy that posed as a U.S. Olympic Committee official

It's pretty different, though.
If you're probably not making the US team and some minor league competitor will give you a spot (most/all of them being not adverse to the US) - whatever.
If you have a spot wherever you want it, and you go to the one that is hostile toward the country that trained and fostered you in pretty much every way for money, and you intend to keep benefiting from life in the US while trash talking US politics WHILE being silent about Chinese oppression - yeah, you're a different case.

yes I do
do you?
one half chinese and half American athlete was paid by china to compete for them
one half chinese and half american athlete was also offered money by china and declined, choosing to compete for America
why should we care that one athlete took the chinese money? she made her choice
shouldnt we celebrate the athlete that declined the chinese money and skated for America based on her principles?

The big thing for Mondo is the Swedes hired his dad. He got to keep his dad as his coach, which USA wouldn't have done. He gave an interview where he was having second thoughts and wanted to stick with the US, but then the Swedes swooped in and said his dad could be his coach and that sealed it.
Now he is off banging some Swede and got engaged to her, wonder if he really even still lives in the US anymore since track is bigger over there on the professional level.
