Here's what worries me. As a student of history, Japan was being squeezed for natural resources in the Pacific. That directly led to the attack on Pearl Harbor. Their leaders saw no other recourse other than a full on push back against the one country capable of standing in their way They took a giant risk, and "woke the sleeping giant". China might just be willing to go the same route.
