The single biggest tragedy of the War on Terror after 9/11 was that Trump wasn't president

The War on Terror cost America 6,860 military lives, 5,376 of those were hostile deaths. This is according to the Department of War website.
This is more than the number of deaths on 9/11 itself, and is a direct result of the length of time that war in Iraq and Afghanistan lasted.
Trump is showing that he's not afraid to show some balls and use the American military the way it was intended in this modern era - from the air and sea. If George Bush really truly wanted the war to be over quickly, it would've been, but instead he put massive numbers of boots on the ground and drug it out. Those two wars could've been fought similarly to how this one against Iran is being carried out and we could've saved thousands of American lives and celebrated Osama bin Laden's death in December 2001 when we had him pinned down in the mountains of Tora Bora. If we still insisted on taking out Saddam Hussein, that could've been done within days or weeks as well, again, if we really wanted it to be that quick.
frick George Bush. I'm embarassed to say I was a democrat back then so I never voted for Bush BUT I'm proud to say I never voted for Bush

I agree, so much senseless death when we have the capability to win a war with total domination and use of force.
fricking Biden (or whatever dipshit was running his “strategy” last year) getting our soldiers killed with the horrible Afghan withdrawal is what pisses me off the most.
It was so unnecessary and the media and the Dems gave him a completely free pass for it too

Bruuuhhh...
What we see now = what we saw in the beginning of Iraq
If we try to occupy and rebuild, like we did in Iraq, it will look exactly the same.

Our intelligence in the ME was terrible back then. When Operation Iraqi Freedom began, we bombed a restaurant where Saddam and his two sons were allegedly having dinner. Turns out just one son was there.
Our initial operation in Afghanistan was actually quite impressive. Both Iran and Russia helped us - because everyone in the world knew the US had to act and they didnt want to get in our way.
Russia let us use their air base to deploy troops. The Iranians connected us to tribal leaders who opposed the Taliban. We swiftly moved in, deposed the Taliban, and assisted the Afghanis in holding free elections.
Most importantly, we did NOT mount a massive invasion that was sure to get bogged down in a prolonged war. That was what Bin Laden was hoping for, and was the primary purpose of the 9/11 attacks.
We missed on getting Bin Laden, obviously, and had no real exit strategy, but the initial response could not have been executed any better.

Seems I keep hearing this echo that ‘because things have been a certain way, it’s the same ole’
But Trump is not the same ole, that should be evident to EVERYONE.
It may have started the same, but Trump isn’t handcuffing with the ROE as in the past, he doesn’t need a cucksortiom of RINOs and Europeans to consult with.

Reserve the right to judge if/when the USA decides to put troops on the ground and if/when we believe we can profit from nation building.
But dude, bombing ALWAYS looks the same.

…we should’ve acknowledged that we were at war with Islam. We can’t win until we acknowledge who the enemy is and why. This was our first enemy as a nation and it’s still our biggest threat.

You mean the war we started because of a lie with Iraq?
