What's the best way to shop around? And a lot of our employees don't need health insurance because they are on tricare -- can we just pay for employee health insurance for those who need it?

Yes, as long as it's offered to everyone and they opt out. Still have to have some minimum number for a group plan.

Find a local broker and let them advise and shop plans for you. They may even be able to see if your company qualifies for a consortium (group a bunch of similar companies together for health insurance purposes).

We use the Chapman Group/Gallagher in the New Orleans area. Although, I am looking into shopping them around this year to make sure I am getting the best products/offers.

Have someone else do it who knows what they're doing. I work through a broker that presents me options every year. I use Brown & Brown. They saved me $100k this year and I didn't have to lift a finger. Cigna was going up on me a lot. They shopped around for me and found us an equal plan with another company without me even asking.

We setup a ICHRA this year with a broker in Denver that uses Venteur. It's been great. Gave eligible employees a fixed amount to use monthly and they picked their plan online. If their monthly premium was less than our fixed amount, the employee can keep that in an HRA account with Venteur.

We use Gallagher, they shop it for us every year and find our best options. We have 32 full time employees but I think only 10 or 12 actually participate.

Just do a QSEHRA. They pick their own plans and you help pay for it

Group Market is more competitive than individual market, especially since the large individual market increase, effective 01/01/2026. From my experience, employees much prefer joining a company that provides Company plan(s) offering rather than tell them they get money towards health insurance but need to go pick a plan on individual market.
