honest question...how well would a better coach do with who is playing on the basketball team. Is there a players problem of mostly a coaching problem?

bingo. Need good players to win.

Coaches count in critical moments, but talent level usually rises to the top. We don't have the talent.

The talent on the team is better than the team's record would indicate. The young talent on the team has not seemed to develop over the last 4 years, especially the bigs. The talent on the team is also indicative of what the coach plus the program are capable of attracting.

Talent is not stellar, and that can impact performance initially, regardless of the coach. But probably after year 1 and definitely after year 2, the common denominator in the talent level, development, and utilization problem is the head coach.

Disagree. Nwoko has doubled his performance from last year while at Mississippi State. K. J. Williams was an outstanding player at Murray and his one yeat LSU. Damion Coillins was an emerging force , especially defensively before transferring. Jalen Reed had All SEC potential before his injuries. Robert Miller has been inconssitent but has great physical skills but has been plagued by foul trouble. He plays hard and gives great effort.

The common denominator has been season ending injuried to the top two players last season and this season

He's doubled his PPG. He has had a 37% increase in minutes played as well. If you look at Points per 40 minutes, he's at 25.0 vs 15.8 still a 58% increase, but not double. How about rebounds? His rebounds increased by less than 1 per game (5.5 from 4.6). Per 40 minutes, that would be 10.4 vs 11.9, so about a 12% drop off there. In other stats per game, he went from .4 to .5 on steals, 2.1 to 3.1 of personal fouls, and .7 to 1.7 turnovers. None of those are really positive progressions. But I will say that both the positive and negative progression look a whole lot more like the result of more -playing time rather than development.

He certainly was.

Why did he not stay? Plus, he really did not progress while at LSU. His stat improvements directly correlate with his minutes played.

I agree, but that is all speculation, and that potential was there regardless of who his coach was going to be.

It's up to his coach to work with him to get over those things. That does not seem to be happening. I'm a huge Robert Miller fan but he needs development and doesn't seem to be getting it.

I know you want to give McMahonmore of a chance, but I just don't understand that. He needs to go, he has lost the fanbase, if nothing else.

Have to remember the first couple years there was little to no money for NIL so recruiting was very difficult. Last year there was some money then early on in the season, the two top players are lost for the season and more lost during the season. Not sure it is just coaching but you can bet a new coach will demand more NIL money and no one will know if he is actually a better coach or just had more resources to recruit higher quality players.

The lack of development and improvement from Miller has been one of the most disappointing aspects of this team.

He also can't seem to hold onto the basketball and gets called for more illegal screens than any other player I've ever seen at any level.
