When can I call it a 'war' without getting lambasted? At least we are safe here in the homeland, though.

Are you breaking the news that we have boots on the ground?

War in the legal sense, like WW2 or war in the practical sense like Korea or Vietnam (legally not wars)?

WW3 is already happening all around us. It's a cyber-war using hacking, espionage, sabotage, subterfuge and myriad forms of spycraft. The key players are the see eye A, Mossad, the Kremlin and the CCP.
It's a big war in the shadows that is going unnoticed by many, as they carry on with their daily lives, too consumed with first-world problems to notice the boiling bath water.
2030 is the year to watch. We've been warned.

If the mullahs and their thug regime don't break, the only alternative to boots on the ground in some form is to arm the protestors. Arming them with Ukraine-like FPV suicide drones would break the mullah's organized thugs and nutjobs.

When the muslins take over, doing anything about it will be a hate crime.
You are definitely not safe in the homeland. We have planes and visas now.

Define “boots on the ground.”
I have said for awhile that the islands in the Strait were going to be hit.
The USS Tripoli being there is a game changer imho. You get Marines, and pretty much constant air cover (as opposed to what the carrier provides…which equated to long gaps in air cover…allowing Iranian small boats to put forth sporadic patrols). With air cover, boat patrols dry up, and minesweepers can do their thing. Helicopter’s (from the Tripoli) will also be used extensively to remove mines.
Lastly, once the Iranian islands in the strait are neutered, the U.S. can set up shop on some currently uninhabited islands.
In short, if what I have put forth comes to pass, the U.S. would control the Strait…NOT Iran.
Kind of a big deal if you ask me.
Lastly, Australia has yet to feel the pinch, as tankers take awhile to get there. However, once the pain hits them, no coal will be going to China. A decrease in coal = potential issues for China, as their power grid is largely fueled by coal fired power plants.
I don’t think that they can ramp up alternate supplies very quickly (if at all) to make up for that shortfall. Time will tell.
This could be a major move geo-politically on a global scale.
