China rejecting this makes little sense. Most of their oil supply comes through there

I bet china is betting on the perceived lack of resolve from Americans. They may not be wrong, we as a group unfortunately seem to have little tolerance for any kind of discomfort and as a result do nothing but prolong our discomfort.
I have a rip the band aid attitude, let be as intense as needed but over as quickly as possible and power through.

They actually live in the suburbs.
A lot of big European cities, like Paris and London, are somewhat of an inverse of American cities.
The well to do live in the city center and the poors and thugs are out on the fringes.
I lived in London for a couple years back in 2007-2010 and it’s gotten a lot worse since then. My last trip to London, in October last year, I asked my Indian driver where he lived. Slough, he said (near Heathrow). There are massive migrant communities all around London. I asked him if Indians are living in London now. No, he said, can’t afford it. The only people that can afford the city are English, Americans, Arabs, and Chinese. And there’s a lot of Arabs and Chinese.
Same in Paris. You see homeless, usually black Africans, living under the bridges. But massive Muslim communities fill the suburbs and when there are riots they usually happen in the suburbs.

China is getting some of ships through Hormuz via diplomatic means. It also does not want further escalation, which might occur if naval forces are sent to the region to keep the shipping lanes open. Finally - the U.S. demanded Chinese help in hormuz as a condition of Trump's state visit to China - and China did not like that.
