Bill to Block Illegal Immigrants from U.S. Banking Gets the Nod from Trump’s Treasury.
Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) has introduced the Know Your American Customer Act, a bill designed to restrict illegal migrants from accessing the American banking system. The legislation mandates that U.S. financial institutions verify the legal status of new customers to ensure compliance with immigration laws. A statement from the Treasury to The National Pulse appears to be broadly supportive of the move.
The bill would require banks and credit unions insured by the FDIC or NCUA to confirm that individuals opening new accounts are U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or legally present on a valid visa. Customers would need to present identification, such as a driver’s license or passport, along with proof of legal status.
I don't expect it to pass and bozoberg would unilaterally declare it unconstitutional if it did, but the voting will be interesting

Maybe they can pass a law that bars them from eating tacos too? Illegals come here and work for cash and their employers are happy to do it to avoid paying their portion of social security tax.

Wild that Patriot Act 1 and 2 didn't prevent illegals from opening US bank accounts or sending cash out of the service desk at Walmarts ... at a minimum.
Also wild that the 300 page Patriot Act was drafted and passed into law in less than six weeks. Almost like they already had it in the can.

It will go nowhere. Just like the SAVE act

Meh. Ban those who hire them from banking and you'd solve the problem pretty much overnight.

If we had ZERO RINOS, I would feel much better....RINOS are worse than the most evil DEMOCRATS!

Congress should be working on an immigration reform bill …. but they cannot seem to do their jobs.

It won’t get a vote. Performative politics. They wouldn’t get 50 republicans to vote for it if they got rid of the filibuster. Cotton is no different than McCain, Romney, Paul, McConnell, and Thune.

We can’t even ban them from voting.

Well there is already a law in place to prevent illegal immigration. I don't think that you and your ilk understand this or probably just choose to ignore. BTW, how many illegals have you taken into your home or supported?

My ilk? I’m all for deporting every illegal alien. Not an easy stance to take when your wife and her whole family were asked to leave the country when she was 5 years old because a backed up immigration department hadn’t processed their paperwork. My point is, why pass a bullshite banking law when we don’t enforce immigration laws.
