There were always higher rated, higher touted catchers than Milazzo. He was never going to have a professional future.

But he was always solid behind the plate.

I honestly think even it comes to catching pitchers, right now, Yamin might the best we have.

I wish I knew what Jay was thinking. Yamin is probably the new first baseman. Bide and Serna are your catcher and DH.

But that leaves out Braun. So do you play Braun at first instead of Yamin.

Sometimes you go in portal when you don’t have to

Yamin should have gotten more opportunities so far this season

I’m good with him if he can simply catch the ball.

The pass balls are excruciating

He looked like our best defensive catcher today, and he has a lot more power than Milazzo.

I'm hoping Serna will be okay, and we may need 3 catchers in the lineup going forward.

Seems like he had a good day behind the plate, but a 6’5” 1B makes a good target.

He looked great today behind the plate. Give him another chance Tuesday vs Bethun Cookman. Hell give each of these guys 1 start a weekend behind the dish then rotate through 1B/DH.

That’s where I am.

Bide / Serma have more upside, but the most important role of a catcher is to not let the pitch get past you.

Our current starting 1B is a massive target but he can’t consistently catch it.

Yamin needs to catch. Cade needs to DH. Sets wants to play he better learn how to play first.

Yorke is massively wide & can’t move that well.

EH is proportional for his height & seems very coordinated.

I think he could be another Ethan Frye.

Overlooked & underestimated until he started showing what he could do.

LSU desperately has to stabilize first base. Need a big agile target that can stretch and move to handle most throws his way.

Give Yamin a full game at first base. The first baseman can’t be allowed to give away games in the first inning.

Yamin had 2 of the 4 highest exit velocities today. He has to get more opportunities

For any of you still thinking this will happen, you aren't paying attention at all. Braun has not played 1B for LSU, nor did he play it in high school. He pinch-hit for Yorke today and was immediately pulled for a pinch runner. Then we moved John Pearson over to 1B. If there was ever a chance that Braun would play first base, that was it. Jay was ejected two batters later, so he is the one who planned this.

If we can find one catcher that can play defense like Milazzo or Hernandez that would be great. Right now it looks like Yamin is our only shot at that.

I couldn't catch the game but from what I did see of Yamin, he looked like a big improvement defensively, though his throws down to first base were iffy.

If JJ can figure out how to get the combo of Serna, Bide, and then Braun playing regularly and in meaningful ways - I would love to see that in the future.

And to top it all off, Yamin actually hit the ball decently well which was a great surprise.

Yamin only had 1 pass ball….and Guidry hopped it 5 feet in front of him. You could still put him at catcher, Serna at 1st, Bide DH
