Diplomatic efforts for peaceful settlement of the ongoing war in the Middle East are progressing steadily, strongly and powerfully with the potential to lead to substantive results in near future. To allow diplomacy to run its course, I earnestly request President Trump to extend the deadline for two weeks. Pakistan, in all sincerity, requests the Iranian brothers to open Strait of Hormuz for a corresponding period of two weeks as a goodwill gesture. We also urge all warring parties to observe a ceasefire everywhere for two weeks to allow diplomacy to achieve conclusive termination of war, in the interest of long-term peace and stability in the region.
He's in the middle of the negotiations as mediator I believe

Why would Iran do this? They have to inflict maximum political damage to Trump and the US by increasing global energy prices . its why Trump is at the table

I read an interesting tweet asserting that Pakistan is deeply invested in what’s going on and has an agreement with Saudi Arabia to protect them, which means Pakistan is going to get involved militarily soon.

Fox put up list of what both sides were asking for in a deal. There is absolutely no way Trump would ever agree to some of what Iran was asking for. One was they wanted reparations and compensation for the war. Another was they want the U.S. to close all the bases across the Middle East and leave the region. Both are total nonstarters and unreasonable and they know that no U.S. President would ever agree to any of that. Trump damn sure ain’t doing it lol! They don’t want peace. They never have. Here they are getting blown away and they ask for stuff like that.

The Saudi's initiated their pact with Pakistan that if attacked the Pakistani's have to defend Saudi Arabia.
If they don't they owe the Saudi's over 3 billion in a week.
