When LSU is Sweating a "Regional Bubble" late May

they can be reminded of all the PATHETIC Loses to lesser teams
McNeese 7 - 6; Northeastern 13 - 10 ; Bethune Cookman 10 - 7
+ 2 to Sacramento State
22 - 12 could be 27 - 7
The remainder of MID WEEK games are :
NW La
UNO
SE La
Tulane
Is it asking too much to go 4 - 0 in those games? Nothing guaranteed as we have seen!
18 more SEC Games
@ Ole Miss
Texas A&M @ The BOX
@ Mississippi State
So.Carolina @ The BOX
@UGA
Florida @ The BOX
10 - 8?? 9- 9? 11 - 7? 12- 6?
35; 36 ; 37 Wins for the Regular Season??
Maybe Flip the Switch Win a Couple in HOOVER / SEC Tourney
Early thought 40 Regular season Wins was a given after Sweeping Jacksonville FL.....
Starting W/L 8 - 0 ....But then the funk began with McNeese

Yeah Moore going down hasn’t helped. it would be nice to save an arm or 2 for the midweeks

Midweeks matter zero. Get to 14 wins in SEC play and you’re in without a sweat. 13 has been a lock lately. A 9-9 finish would easily have us in a regional and on no one’s “bubble”

There are examples in the last 10 years of teams being left out with 14 SEC wins. And those teams had similar RPI's to LSU's this year and similar overall records.
So yeah, I disagree. And part of the reason our RPI is so shitty is these midweek losses.

The midweek games aren’t a big deal. Losing to Sac State on a weekend is a bad look.

That’s not true. They matter when you lose 3 to 4 of them with an already bad schedule. Losing 2 out of 3 to Sac of shite State doesn’t help.

In 2016, Kentucky and Alabama were 15-15 (both 32 regular-season wins) and did not make it
In 2017, Mizzou (36 regular) and Ole Miss(32 regular) were both 14-16 and missed. South Carolina missed at 13-17 (35 regular)
In 2018, a 13-win team (A&M) made it, but they had 40 regular-season wins. 13-win Kentucky, 32 regular-season wins, did not make it
In 2019, every team with 13 wins or higher made it
no 2020
2021 was an odd year. 13-win (38 regular) LSU and 12-win (32 regular) Alabama made it, but 13-win (31 regular) Georgia and 12-win (29 Regular) Kentucky did not
In 2022, everyone with 14 or more wins made it. The only 13-win team (South Carolina) had an overall losing record and did not make it.
In 2023 If you won 14 games, you went. After 14 wins, the next highest was 11 wins, so there were no 13-win teams
In 2024, every 13-win-or-higher team went, but every one of them won 33 or more games.
In 2025 every 13-win or higher team went, 31 wins got a 13-win team in.

Just finish 15-15, .500 - that’s the pace we’re on right now.
Has a 15 win SEC team ever been left out?

You are welcome to disagree. You’re also wrong.

No, you are wrong. The reason they have to get to 14 instead of 13, is because of how bad theyve been midweek.
They matter none if you take care of business in the sec and win 19 or 20, almost any other number is going to make it matter one way or the other

Did I say 13 is a lock? I said 14. And then I said 9-9 (worst record the guy proposed) would be 15 wins.

Point being the midweek games marginally matter when you lose more than 1-2 because it can sink your metrics enough to go from bubble in to bubble out, or from host to 2 seed, or top 8 to top 16

Mootpert they ain’t going nowhere

It's interesting that a lot of the other ranking systems, including the DSR which the committee also uses, have us ranked much higher than the RPI.

They might marginally matter but if it’s even a question you didn’t win enough SEC games anyway

Thanks for that solid post mdomingue
Still think LSU makes a Regional...hopeful for 16-14 ; 17 -13...which would make em 37 -19 or 36 -20...
15 - 15 is 35 - 21 if they go 4 - 0 O-O-C
Just these Mid Week loses can throw a kink in things.

Yeah the way alot of those systems work will credit tougher schedules and margin of victories, which are in the power conference teams favor. Im not surprised, and it will help lsu if we are on the bubble. Hopefully they pay attention to them

It goes back to this. A single midweek loss is irrelevant, but a lot of them are not. We need to win the rest, IMO, to feel comfortable with 14 SEC wins

1-3 might be tough
