I remember feeling really down when D Mitch's eligibility was up and thinking we'd never find a more reliable, quiet floor leader. I think with Thornton's eligibility up this year, I may feel worse. That kid can just flat out play and he rarely has a slump on the floor. D Mitch was with us for 4 years, so there's probably a greater appreciation for his time here. But we are going to BADLY miss MT next year. In my opinion, a bigger loss than D Mitch.

Thornton over D Mitch??? I know T can play and is carrying this team but I personally saw DM hit 3 game winning shots the final four year including A&M. He was the most clutch player I have seen at LSU period. It showed how bad we missed him and how big of a loss he was the next year when we had ZERO outside shooters and teams could double and triple team Baby.

Until I see that clutch play ill take LSU's all time leader in 3s.

Two great LSU Basketball players.

Not to take anything away from DMitch, but I think MT is more valuable to this team than DMitch was. DMitch had more behind him, although he was more clutch. We may have to see how the year finishes out before we can give an accurate comparison (see how MT plays in the tournament).

if you've noticed this season we haven't had one game yet that has even needed a 3 to win. take for example dmitchs 3 over Arkansas 3 years ago. we had an 11 point lead late in the game and blew it. maybe it's just better coaching. fwiw last years mt < dmitch so no argument there.

+1

I want to see thorton bury some more three's in the face of the other teams best player some more.

I need to see Thornton hit some 3s in the tourney with the game on the line for me to put him above Dmitch, right now they are even in my book

DMitch took many open 3's and sunk them. But MT nails almost all of his shots with a defender in his face. I still have to give it DMitch. His handles and overall team leadership made him the focal point of the 05 team. Without DMitch, there was no final four. Voogt or whatever, couldnt carry them. IMO.

BTW DMitch could play some D!

If Thorton would of played with Baby and Tyrus Thomas we might of beat UCLA in the final 4.

I love Dmitch to death, but he was never among the leading scorers in the SEC and the NCAA like Thorton is.

They're both clutch players IMO

Thornton is a better player... Thornton is getting NBA consideration where D Mitch didnt even get a mention. If Marcus had at least another year this would even be talked about. Marcus is the third best shooter in LSU history right behind Chris jacson and Pistol Pete.

Without DM, we aren't even there.

DM didn't have to be. Anybody can just jack up shot after shot like MT does (though he's gotten a little better with taking bad shots).

If were talking about Value to the team... DMitch...

If were talking about better ball player... Thorton...

IMO

its a toss up between the two.

it showed the year after the final four run how bad we missed d mitch

i watched every year when d mitch was here and i've seen what thorton can do.

I think people are getting caught up with the fact that thorton is here now and we are winning. I dont think we would have beaten UCLA no matter if darrell mitchell or marcus thorton was on the team. They were a better team than us, period.

I did see some freakish blocks from dmitch back in the day, he wasnt that tall and he was blocking some shots from 6'8" guys. Havent seen thorton do that yet.

dmitch was a key player in that final 4 run.

without him, LSU doesn't advance past the first round IMO
