With DJT promising higher tax refunds this year, what has been the consensus so far? Better return? Lower? About the same?

I got a bit more back, but we also had our third child.

I'm more interested in how many people used AI to prepare their taxes this year.

Paid in less than we have in several years, despite making more. Twas nice.

I have to send in quarterly estimates and usually have to also write a check when the returns are done, had an overpayment this year and estimates for 26 almost cut in half, all of my numbers, income/deductions, were about the same as last year

I write a check every year. Usually a couple grand. This year was over $4K. Basically the same income as 2024. Only difference was about $3K in capital gains when I cashed in $6K of Tesla stock to buy my kid a used Toyota.

I overpaid a bit because I adjusted my withholdings two years ago. Between that and a small bump from student loan interest payments (that'll go away for me next year) I ended up getting a little bit back. Broke even on state.
It was lower all together than previous years.

The chick that cuts my hair would have gotten 3k back because of no tax on tips. But, the salon she works for refused to split out the tips on the W-2 (half her income.) So she only got $123 back.
If you go to any Boardroom location, realize that they completely fricked their stylists, hundreds of them.

My kid turned 17 last year, so I actually owe more.
That's ok though. I don't mind being extorted to pay for anchor babies and Somali Learing Centers.

Second kid helped a ton. Was already a little higher than normal before the CPA added jr.

-$1,100.00
My kid turned 19 and worked enough, to be over the limit, where I could claim him.

Gonna highjack the thread for a minute. I mentioned a few weeks back about a trip to a winery I was making. If you and the wife ever have a hankering for checking out Romania put this place on your list.

If you get a refund, you're doing it wrong.

The Feteasca Neagra is nice. Not sure who their chef there is but every damn dish was amazing.

we try to go to Europe to visit some of her clients that we've become friends with at least once a year, I'll pass this along to her, maybe we can include it in the next trip, thanks again

Donald Trump was full of shite in my situation. I made $10k less and owed $567 with 2 kids under 18. I thought I did something wrong so I tried with another service and had roughly the same outcome. I try to get close to $0 each year but I usually inevitably end up getting at least a few hundred back but this year I owed. In the few years I've owed, I only owed a couple hundred or so, so this year was the most I've ever owed.
