I haven’t felt this way since 1972

The wonder of man traveling to the moon, and the sights and excitement of it all never gets old. I feel like a kid again.
So what’s your favorite moment from Artemis 2?
I’m personally torn between the incredible moment of naming a crater after Reid Wiseman‘s wife who was lost to cancer and the thrill of finally watching the chutes deploy after coming in hot at 33 times the speed of sound and the relief that the mission is complete, and they are back home safely.
I can’t wait to see all of the other high definition pictures they have, and things they discovered in their trip around the moon.
Eat it China

Glad they made it home safely, cool pictures but didn't do anything worthwhile or new so doesn't move the needle for me

Haven't had that spirit here since 1969

They have to stage to make sure basic systems work properly. They don't for the whole enchilada first time out. Apollo had several flights before they even went to the moon
Next up they will take the lander and land.

We just went to the moon and back. We streamed every second live for the world to see - for free!
We're kicking Iran's arse and helping our boys Israel.
We're assisting Ukraine and giving the finger to Putin.
We've kidnapped the president of Colombia and are holding him trial for all the drug bullshite.
We've killed a Cartel kingpin.
We're hosting the World Cup this year, and the Olympics in 2 years.
Apparently we're the only country in the world who gives a frick and is actually awesome.

Glad I have to pay for all this

Yeah, I agree. It’s always an insane accomplishment, but NASA is stuck in the past in so many areas compared to SpaceEx & what they’ve been able to accomplish in such a short amount of time.

This is the prequel to a return trip to the moon to build a permanent base for a monumental trip to Mars. I’d say that’s hardly stuck in the past.

Not gonna lie. Watching that re-entry, hoping that all the inventiveness of man would make the parachute system work after 10 days in space, to come back home through our Gloroius atmosphere of protection, I was genuinely relieved of a little overwhelmed: Had an onion there thinking of the danger and risk the astronauts assumed in accepting their mission. It was a feeling of peace.

Why do they need a prequel to do something less than we supposedly did almost 60 years ago?
We aren't going to mars in any of our lifetimes

You need to go on vacation. Get out of the house. Smell the fresh air.

Watching the landing reminded of being a kid in Jonesboro

It's not the distance that matters. It's the gravity well that you have to escape to start the journey that matters. The moon's well is 1/6th the depth of the earth's well.

I thought humans couldn't survive the Van Allen radiation belt?
Clearly the pod was filled with corpses, right?
