Tailgating is not Halal

FIFA also banned "PUUUUUTTTTOOOO" at Concacaf matches. How's that working

All the logistics behind this world cup have been absolutely dog shiz. Pretty amazing considering that World Cups in countries like the US, England, France, Germany, Netherlands/Belgium, even places like Brazil and Argentina should be easy as hell to manage

This country is not like the others

Our sports culture and sports infrastructure isn’t built like the rest you just mentioned

Ours is just different

*Soccer culture and soccer infrastructure

95,000 people have turned up to watch college football practice in this country

And Belgium was mentioned, lets not go full hyperbole. MLS averages a higher attendance than the pro league by double

Not sure what your point is, but what you are attempting to say is pointless. The cities in Belgium are easier to navigate to get to a football ground than an NFL stadium. Even the majority of MLS stadiums are.

You ignore the rest of the post

I said it’s just different and it is. Most the stadium for college football are more similar to European soccer. On campus and much simpler to navigate than an NFL venue, that’s in a giant empty parking lot outside of a city. That and none of these WC matches are being played at a college stadium. So another swing and miss from you.

I can't imagine ever going to Arrowhead and not tailgating. I'd be curious to see if and how they even try to enforce it.

Are they trying to make it a disaster?

Charging exorbitant amounts for crappy matchups. No tailgating.

Train tickets from Penn Station to Met Life that usually cost $12 will now run you $100.

Remember when the communist mayor said he wanted to make the WC affordable for NYers

I saw that mentioned in an article and it confused me. I didn't realize city governments could increase prices of public transportation due to demand. Maybe that was naive of me.

It's pretty crazy that I have no intention of attending one World Cup game. If you would've told that to 2016 me, I would have said you are crazy. Maybe the shittiest ticket in Houston will be crazy low closer to gameday.

I am curious to see how much tickets will drop.

So far I’m not seeing any clear drop in ticket prices.

For the round of 16 and onwards, there will be demand. For the first round and some second round matches though, we will either see lots of empty seats or a big drop in prices.

I’m actually betting we will see lots of empty seats.

FIFA’s corruption and total disregard for fairness is really something to behold. It’s unbelievable actually.

Except we've watched this for decades. FIFA uncovered, and multiple other docs, Qatar, and we have no choice but to eat whatever shite sandwich they're feeding us.

FIFA sucks
I mean yes but it’s the same number of people tailgating without a ban (0)

It’s not a thing outside of the US and the people who can afford our matches aren’t the tailgating type. At least in a form that’s not embarrassing

Pubs are not around football stadiums all over Europe? Curious that. Cause it sounds a hell of a lot like tailgating.

Americans dump stadiums in shitty areas to get parking space, which makes them unwalkable to anything but the gas station you're buying 40s from or getting robbed at because of the acres of parking lots.

Euros are tailgating too, it's just at the pub 1/2 mile away, which is where your car would be if you were in Houston.

That’s cool. Unfortunately I’m not broadly talking about pre-game activities. I’m actually talking about tailgating, the topic of the thread and the thing that FIFA just explicitly banned. You know, a distinctly American experience that maybe 1% of the incoming tourist population has done and it was one time when they were studying abroad here at a state school

But next time you’re Europe let me know how many people you see set up in parking lots with grills playing cornhole

This isn’t surprising, but does piss me off. I love tailgating. I’m not paying to go to a FIFA fan zone. I hope fans coordinate some things.

Getting pissed in a pub near the ground isn’t tailgating

I’ve tailgated outside Serie A matches before. Those Italian dudes were even grilling hamburgers. Was surprising and awesome.
