Norm. (A new *very* short film that adds a new perspective to his life and death, IMO)

Featuring cameos from animated Kinison and others, as well as a song by Billy Joe Shaver.
I'll admit, this one got me a bit.

I miss Norm. And Sam. Is it dusty in here?

Was that story about Kinnison true? Man I love Norm and that was a cool video.

The story about his death? Yeah, it is true.

I don't know what Norm knew about his health when, no one in the public does, but he chose his words wisely there. He drew a comparison to Kinison being seemingly fine on the outside, but was quickly dying inside, unbeknownst to his friend. That juxtaposition to how Norm chose to go out......that's deep, if he knew then.

Norm was one of the greats.
He had a lot of issues but I do believe that he believed in Jesus based on some of his discussions with other people.

I thank the "algorithm" for that one. I watch a good bit of Norm stuff in spurts, but didn't know the guy who made that video. I'm glad it showed up while it is still new.

The "Clinton killed a guy, I thought it was a matter of record" gets me every time.

I had never heard that story about Sam regarding making little things big and big things little. I love that.

That hitler joke is the perfect example of that. He couldn't have picked a better illustration to use.

pound for pound the most powerful comedian to have ever lived.
Posted on 4/17/26 at 10:07 pm to LegendInMyMind
Yeah, he was a funny guy, he had his own kind of thing going on.
That video is worth watching for the music too.

He knew he was terminal. His face was bloated and he looks really fragile in the last couple years.
I don't remember which comedian was telling the story but Norm would expound on the lack of dignity people assumed when they revealed their terminal illness for the sake of public sympathy. Even in the OP clip you can see what a different guy he was later in life when he had been through one round but was in remission.
He was always brutal with some parts of his personality. Certain types of bullshite evoked malicious levels of scorn from him. But you can also see a tenderness in him in the last decade before he passed. Just watching the video in the OP gives a glimpse of the softer man that he originally kept hidden from the public eye.

Not surprising to me, I almost said in my post above, I think Norm considered himself more of a humorist. Billy Joe Shaver is exactly the same that way.
