How much of a shitty move is that from this pathetic excuse of an "organization?" What could possibly be the justification for trashing a guy who has given his professional life to the team and moved here from Charlotte to continue doing so. Gayle should be ashamed that she allowed this to happen to a devoted employee who probably makes peanuts.

I get some of the scouting, to a degree. I get changing coaches. I get wanting to insert "your people." That happens everywhere. But the Equipment Manager? What possible good is this? The man being there for nearly 40 years deserves the opportunity to retire on his own terms.

We've lost the plot as an organization and, frankly, as a society.

We don't need old fricks like him around. Now, this also applies to our GM and POBO.

He's 58 turning 59. He's getting up there in age. I think they probably want someone young. Probably as simple as that.

Not many people can say they've been with an organization as long as he has. The guy had a great career. Hopefully they gave him a great severance package for his service and loyalty. Sucks anytime a long tenured employee is let go.

Big shot is a great guy and honestly he is probably the hardest working guy in that organization. What a trashy move by the Pelicans.

He's probable the only person who has kept the same job for the last 36 years.

Imagine staying at your job for 36 years. I'd probably want to gouge my eyeballs out. I was at my last job for 20 years and at the end everyone I had known was retired, dead or left for better pastures. The people that replaced them were idiots. He may feel the same way.

The circumstances for how it happened are unfortunate, but wholesale change was what everyone asked for. I guess that includes equipment staff. His No.2 had really been handling a lot more on the road primarily since the bubble during Covid.

In fairness, the dudes that are making the decisions to get rid of people, those are the dudes that "everyone asked for" to be removed.

He's been with the team this long his salary is probably elevated for the position. It ain't nice but filling the position for cheaper probably won't see a fall off.
