Some of those picks you suggested would have been absolutely ripped at the time for taking the player too high.

Stallworth was our own pick. Grant was from Miami.

And we could just as easily gotten Jimmy Kennedy instead of Sullivan, or if we had stayed, we could have gotten Bryant Johnson, Calvin Pace, or Kyle Boller.

Don't forget, we could have made even worse choices...

We drafted Darren Howard, Terrelle Smith, Tutan Reyes, Chad Morton, and Marc Bulger over Tom Brady.

This is why you don't draft for need.

I'm not sure M. Jenkins was the BPA. Same with the punter this year.

Agreed,

This staff has had just as many hits and misses with their draft. They miss more on the sure bets and hit more on the overacheivers IMO.

If that's your list then you weren't properly scarred by the Sullivan pick. The name Marcus Trufant should be permanently burned in your memory

we had 4 #1 picks in 2 years as a result for this trade. Dante Stallpepper, Charles Grant, Johnathan Sullivan, and Johnathan Sullivan

please engage brain before typing-
1. Stallworth+Grant+why Sullivan 2 times=4?

2. Stallworth was the Saints normal pick, nothing to do with Williams

3. RW trade to Miami was Ricky Williams, 2002 fourth round pick (#114-Randy McMichael) to Dolphins for 2002 first round pick (#25-Charles Grant), 2002 fourth round pick (#125-Keyuo Craver), 2003 first, second, or third round pick (#18-Calvin Pace) on 2002-03-08

So RW + McMichael who was decent for 2 firsts and Keyou Craver

Grant with the first number one. The second first they coupled with their own to get Sullivan. Certainly a Top Ten blunder in the Saints woeful trade history. The Cards took Pace and Bryant Johnson with those picks. Others available- Jeff Faine, Dallas Clark, Larry Johnson, Nick Barnett, Nnamdi Asomugha, etc

PS- the season starts this week, let's do history study and uniforms in the off season

Every other team including the Patriots thought there 198 players better than him too. Just the QBs in 2000-

2000
1 1 18 18
Chad Pennington Jets Marshall
2 3 3 65
Giovanni Carmazzi 49ers Hofstra
3 3 13 75
Chris Redman Ravens Louisville
4 5 34 163 Tee Martin Steelers Tennessee
5 6 2 168
Marc Bulger Saints West Virginia
6 6 17 183
Spergon Wynn Browns Southwest Texas State
7 6 33 199
Tom Brady Patriots Michigan

Bulger was actually a pretty nice pick for #183 in the 6th Rd. The AB love affair prevented them from seeing his ability though IMO

I'm just engaging in the stupidity of some of the draft theories this guy is trying to apply to the woulda shoulda coulda's.

I know only two of the picks came from the dolphins and two were our original picks...that shouldn't have to be explained to people who follow the team.

yokay np, not too sensible if you say they are the result of that trade to me.
