What a letdown. I feel like tracking each of the 247 people who have raved about this movie and given me the "I can't believe you haven't seen this?!?"!" nonsense.

It's about as good as "Burn After Reading". And don't get me wrong, thats good. But I feel like the people who rave about merely "good" movies like this do so mostly because they don't go to plays or indie/foreign films and therefore are never really exposed to good or non-formulaic Hollywood movies.

It's kind of like all the people who raved about "Mallrats" and "Chasing Amy". Those movies were average at best.

Got in NetFLix last week and I agree nothing special. Probably one of the biggest let downs for me just simply based on how much build up people gave it.

I found this movie hilarious, and even the less comedic scenes were funny just because of the witty atmosphere.

Don't get me wrong I liked it and thought it was funny. But just the overall build up I got from it, one of my friend swears by this movie that is all time great material. I didn't think it was anything special.

Nah, it's nowhere near that discussion.

But it is a very entertaining movie I can watch repeatedly. Some of the subtle one-liners crack me up.

"Dieter's a nihilist. He doesn't care about anything."
"Ahh, that must be exhausting."

"Eight year olds, dude."

"The story is ludicrous." - Maude on the porn tape

For the longest time I would see it on Comedy Central and never be able to get through more than 5 minutes of it. Then one day I watched it all the way through on my computer and I liked it a lot. Could just be because I had been disappointed so many times before and it exceeded my lowered expectations, but enjoyable nonetheless.

It's a movie that, for me, grew on me with multiple viewings.

I don't see it as overrated at all.

I think the number or people that have seen and loved it is not very large. They are just vocal in their love for the movie.

For something to be overrated, it needs to be loved by many for inexplicable reasons. Example, Titanic.

Lebowski only had a 17 million domestic box office. Hard to call a movie that made almost no money overrated.

I by the way love it, but it took a few viewings to really grow on me.

Just a typical Coen film, but I think it is much better than Burn After Reading which I did not like much at all.

If this was your first time watching it, I advise you to watch it again. The Big Lebowski is a film that when you watch it the first time you just think "What the frick did I just watch"? On second viewing it is a much more enjoyable movie and it gets better every time you watch it. That is a sign of a great comedy: one that gets better with repeated viewings.

It should be a crime to put The Big Lebowski on basic cable. It says frick 260 times for God's sake, not to mention some of the other expletives.

I thought it was good. Not the best ever but it made me laugh a good bit. John Goodman was money.
