Since it's safe to say that a huge percentage of the patrons here are Americans or at least from North America, why do you follow the club team of your fancy?

For me, I like to follow Bayern Munich for a combination of reasons. I love the city of Munich and the Oktoberfest. I also have some German heritage, not sure if it's Bavarian though. I figure that's about as reasonable a reason as liking any certain NFL or university. I'm not sure whom I'd really root for in the EPL though. ManU seems too much like New York Yankees and seem like the "cool" team to like as a foreigner.

I find it astonishing that there are 5 Premier League teams in the London Area when here in the US owners complain when another team is within 200 miles.

So my EPL allegiance is for sale, who's got a good offer for me?

ESPN's hype of Ronaldinho leading up to the 06 Cup. Though he didn't have a good tournament, I watched many youtube videos of him and followed him with Barca. Even though I still follow him at AC now, I consider myself a Barca fan first.

I watched the first few weeks of the EPL season last year and liked Tottenham Hotspur's style of play and by about the 5th or 6th week of the season, they were my favorite team.

Manchester United...

Whenever I first started semi-following the game, they were teh first team I took notice of. You can say they got to me in my soccer "infancy"...so yeah.

Everton this past year b/c of Donovan and Howard.
Fulham b/c of Fulhamerica.

I mostly have teams I don't like and pull for whoever they are playing (Chelski, ManU, City unless they are playing one of the other two).
Makes every week in the EPL fun for me.

Everyone in my family supports the team, my grandmother's apartment is maybe half a mile away from the stadium, and a great-uncle I never met was once its starting goalkeeper and a caretaker manager.

In other words, I wasn't given much of a choice to support Fenerbahce

That's how i watch both epl and la liga. I like some players but mainly just root for whoever plays the mega-money teams like ManU, Chelsea, Barca and Real.

Saw Newcastle play while I was on a trip to England in 1997. I was 16. I got drunk as hell and just screamed at the screen when everyone else did.

I was a fan from then on.

My family has been big Bayern Munich fans since the 50's. I've always followed them casually but I really got into them when Klose transferred there.

Big Bastian fan as well. Well be a sad day for me if he ever transfers

when wolves was last in the premier league in 03-04 before they went up in 08-09, they upset manchester united 1-0 at molineux and it showed on FSN and i enjoyed it, the atmosphere, etc.

unfortunately they were relegated in last place that year.

since then liverpool has made a run for my fandom, arsenal briefly threatened at one time, and west ham, tottenham, and manchester city are the current top contenders. i'd probably like wigan if i'd gotten to them when wolves did, and if millwall ever goes premier i'd like them.

i don't see any other countries' clubs on TV often enough. i'm for barcelona over madrid and hearts over the old firm though. if i had to pick an italian club it'd be Roma. for MLS, the Sounders are too easy a pick, so I'd go with DC United, who always provides a good atmosphere or even Toronto FC (Philly could be interesting)

My top 3 (in order):

OL: Ancestral homeland, have had relatives play for the team, have had relatives serve as chaplains for the team. Born into it.

Celtic: Catholic, part-Irish, relative played for the team last year (MAF, can't remember the exact relation right now). Born into it.

Chelsea: "bandwagon." Started supporting before the Special One's hire. Wanted an EPL team none of my friends had chosen to support and one from London.

Sometimes I envy you guys your ancestral teams. My family (with the exception of some Portuguese influence) has been here since before the Revolutionary War.

I have no recent immigrants anywhere in my family.

I'm just glad my dad was born in a great place like Germany, instead of some stupid arse place like Spain or Italy.

Just a huge fan of Ryan Giggs. So always followed Man U.

I know it's like liking the Yankees but frick it. They have a great style.

I pull for the Houston dynamo here though. I kinda pulled for them before but now that I live here and have a number of friends that go to all the games I can't help but be more involved.

FC Porto because of family. My grandmother lived a block from the stadium so as a kid I could watch the game and open the windows to hear the singing. Here in the states FC Dallas because I grew up in the area and a friend of mine played keeper for them last year.
