Just watched it. Great as usual. So that is how Walternate found out. Also Peter and Olivia

And also why he had already taken an interest in his universe's Olivia.

I had written all that off as "well, it just somehow happened" since I didn't think the writers were going to explore that. Very glad I was wrong!

Also, props to the girl playing young Olivia, she really nailed certain characteristics of the adult Olivia. There was one scene were she had a subtle reaction that was identical to the older Olivia that it really impressed me.

The twist where Olivia drops the ball about our universe! Frickin' genius.

Also, I love that they brought back the white tulips. That episode had so many little easter eggs, my brain couldn't process them all.

Pretty good review of the ep here:

I like the questions the article poses:

• Why does Olivia not remember what we now see as a significant history with Walter?
• Perhaps you’ll tell me whether Olivia reading Mark Helprin’s Winter’s Tale (which would seem awfully tough sledding for a child) has any significance beyond its snowy title?
• What is William Bell’s role in all this? What did he make of all those Betamax tapes Walter made of his tests on Olivia?

Seriously is it necessary for someone to mention this in every Fringe thread. We get it!! Worrying about a show getting cncl'd is a pretty shitty reason for not watching.

Back on topic, great episode! Young Olivia and Young Peter really nailed their parts. Also, I really enjoyed how Walternate discovered what happened.

All of this backstory seems so damn forced now.

Ugh, and to think this used to be a great show. I mean, it's still good, but it won't survive a full season next year, if it even makes it that far.

The pace is just way off.

The easter eggs were cool, and the only good thing was Olivia dropping the other universe on Walternate. The rest of it sucked.

Someone told me the story was cliche now, I haven't watched since the second episode so I can't comment on that.

I hope you're wrong. From the Hollywood Reporter, posted Feb. 26:

Fringe may have settled down in the ratings on Friday nights -- but with the rollercoaster its been on, it's hard to tell.

Last week's Fringe saw an uptick in the adult 18-49 demo with a 1.5 rating, and last night's episode -- a followup to last season's "Peter" -- was steady. Though viewership was down a tenth to 4 million viewers, at least it didn't hit closer to its series low of 3.7 million from a few weeks ago. (Fringe goes on a mini hiatus for two weeks.)

Its lead-in Kitchen Nightmares (3.7 million, 1.6) did OK, enough for Fox to tie for first place in the demo with CBS with a 1.5.

I think that's a pretty harsh statement. I think the direction/cinematography alone was worth the 45 mins. You hardly see something that pretty on network TV. Plus, I loved seeing Walter and Walternate finally on an even playing field. We see that both men were, in fact, inherently "good" at one point in their lives...and that's important. It's just not Walter and Evil Walter anymore.

Also, the cut to commercial where Olivia jumps to the other universe to escape her step father...how terrifying. We also learned how the room burned up, which was totally cool, imo. I really liked this episode.

Side note: They did a live tweet this week with all the creators of the show. The last time they did that the ratings jumped (just like they did on Friday). I think it's an interesting marketing ploy. It was also cool to see Walternate and Bishop Dynamic trending.

Just sick of people saying its a death sentence bc it is on Fridays now. Thanks for your groundbreaking commentary on the fate of Fringe. We get it. It is not good.

I like reading the Fringe threads for people's insights on the show and it sucks that every 3rd post it seems is someone prognosticating about the demise of the show bc it is on Fridays now.
