Deer hunters - Skinning knife

My idea of the ideal skinning knife is a short fixed blade with no grip (or removable grip). Shorter blade makes it easy to get into the small openings without puncturing any internals and no grip for easy cleaning.
Last week I used a buddy's Izula ( LINK) to clean a deer and have not picked up a better knife.
What do you use?

I've used a bunch. I've figured out I pretty much don't care as long as it's sharp and I have a gut hook.

I've been using the folding Gerber Gator with Gut hook. It's a very good knife that holds it edge well and is easily sharpened.
But I'd love to upgrade to a badass, smaller knife. Any suggestions? ($100 price range).
The Gerber is too big for small game and I would like something with a super sharp blade.

I have an ancient Browning 3 blade pocketknife inherited from my GF, w/skinning, guthook and saw, that I keep in my bowhunting fanny pack. I'm sure if I had a camp I would find a proper skinning only knife but this works for my peripatetic hunting scheme right now.

I got a cutco hunting/skinning knife last year. By far the best knife I've ever used.

my friend has a few of these and i have to say that i was very impressed with it as well. i cant remember how much he paid for it but it didnt sound to unreasonable. i dont think it had a gut hook. im sure they make models that have them.

I don't know about the handless knives. Never used one, but don't think I would like it. I usually like my knives like I like my rifles, with some personality and those handless knives look a little too "black rifleish" and everyone knows the black rifles have no soul.

I use my regular pocket knife for most of it, but I have a heavy bladed buck with a gut hook that is easy to sharpen and it works well for the belly work. I also have a very nice caping knife that I don't get to use very often

I really want to try the new Ken Onion skinner Ken supposedly brought it to Alaskan guides for a few years using their input to perfect it

Don't see the point in getting anything special. I've seen guys at the deer shop race with these kinds of knives and skin deer in a few minutes. As long as its sharp to start with it will do. Doesn't take a "never need sharpening knife" to cut the hide away from the meat.

I have a folding buck with a gut hook, my dad has a couple old folding bucks and my brother has a big fixed blade buck with a gut hook that we use. Doesn't matter what knife I use I'm still slow as hell

Usually right when I start getting good at it again the season ends
