quote:

Oregon fumbled the ball three times (twice by the third string running back forced into action because of injuries, which are generally random) and lost it three times, along with an arm punt interception. LSU fumbled the ball three times and lost it once. You can't honestly claim LSU was somehow better because they recovered all three of Oregon's fumbles, whereas Oregon only recovered one of theirs - it's pure chance. The fact remains that without the turnovers, which added the equivalent of 17 points to LSU's score, the game was essentially even. This is a reality born out by both the yardage figures and the score differential when the value of these random turnovers is taken into account. Consequently, if we ignore the highly variable nature of turnovers when trying to assess the performance of a team, we naturally conclude that LSU and Oregon were more or less equals. If you want to continue believing the delusional notion that LSU is vastly superior to Oregon, go ahead, but it contradicts a reasoned and statistically grounded analysis of what happened in JerryWorld.

some of the talking heads have started jumping on that again. Apparently there is no such thing as a forced turnover.

You could not have watched that game and come to a conclution other than that LSU was a superior team by miles.

You see what you want to see I guess.

Cowherd said it best after the game. Bad teams don't force you to fumble. Great teams do. LSU forced those fumbles and Oregon got whooped.

Jerry World's scoreboard disagrees.

Did "reason" punch out those fumbles, strip the ball, and then score just afterwards? What an a**hat!

LSU knew to take advantage of a freshman. Oregon wanted him to be an X-Factor, but they had to know he would be a fumble risk. They gambled and lost.

I love how he mentioned that injuries are and turnovers are totally random and not based on the physicality or skill of the defense they were up against

Whatever they have to do to sleep at night. I am one who believes that turnovers are based on luck(actually recovering them, not forcing them). However, LSU was clearly the better team in that game.

Do you honestly call yourself a LSU fan? When you watch football, are you sure it's American football? You sound very ignorant regarding football & LSU.
