The False River's water supply

How does False River get it's water? It doesn't appear to be connected to the Mississppi???

It's an oxbow or cutoff lake. Used to be part of the river.

While it is not fed by the Miss river, it does have canals that lead in and out of there. Forgot the name of the Bayou that will back up in there.
