quote:

A former founding editor for a prominent homosexual magazine is celebrating his recent marriage to his wife, and is addressing the critics who have blasted him for turning his back on the homosexual lifestyle.

Michael Glatze says that he left homosexuality six years ago by the prompting of the Lord after working as the editor of Young Gay America for over a decade.

The change began in 2005 as a he watched a video of a forum that he had participated in with Judy Shepard, the mother of Matthew Shepard. As Glatze watched the footage, he saw himself in a different light and began to question that path that he had been traveling.

“Knowing no one who I could approach with my questions and my doubts, I turned to God,” he told WND after his conversion. “I’d developed a growing relationship with God, thanks to a debilitating bout with intestinal cramps caused by the upset stomach-inducing behaviors I’d been engaged in.”

Glatze eventually walked away from the magazine as he continued to pursue God, and left a note on his computer that ended with “Homosexuality is death, and I choose life.”

In October of this year, Glatze married his girlfriend Rebekah at an outdoor ceremony in Bluffton, South Carolina. In a letter written last week and published by WND, Glatze gave thanks to God for his wife and addressed homosexual critics who have called his bride Glatze’s “prop” and “victim.”

“I have been married now for a little over a month—and it has been the greatest month of my life thus far!” he wrote. “I am so grateful for Rebekah, for God, for His provision, for my new in-laws, for my family that traveled from far and wide to join in our special day, and for the prayers and support that have flooded our way since October.”

quote:

But he also asked that those who support homosexuality respect his views.

“I want to make a little ‘shout out’ to all of the angry homosexuals in our country who are currently spreading all sorts of hate and aggression [against me] on pro-homosexual blogs. Look, I am not interested in defending myself,” Glatze wrote. “I have as much right to my point-of-view as anyone else has to theirs.”

Come back and give us an update in ten years. Pretending not to be gay is easy in the short term. Doing so for your entire life is a bit more difficult

Sure you can definitely choose not to act on your nature.

But that doesn't change your nature

Well when being gay is giving you intestinal pain it's probably easier to give up.

That he's still gay. Now, he could be bisexual which would make his "transition" easier, but if he's asserting that he no longer feels the urge to have sex with men, I'm flat out calling him a liar.

having urges and acting on them are two different things. You believe the "urges" are what categorize a person as gay?

This reminds me of a question I've always had: do gays have a choice?

Yes. If a heterosexual becomes celibate, it doesn't make them any less heterosexual. If someone has homosexual urges yet decides not to act on them, it doesn't make them any less homosexual.

As a supplemental post, this thread was meant to assert that being gay isn't genetic. Whether one has sex with someone is a choice. Whether someone has the urge to have sex with someone isn't a matter of choice, thus punching a giant hole in the argument of this thread.

Well these types of stories make a little more sense if you agree with the theory that sexuality is a spectrum. If "0" is completely heterosexual and "100" is completely gay, I think that most people are between 0-30. Gay people are probably mostly between 70-100. Now it's the people in the middle that can go either way or in some cases even go both ways (bisexual). Maybe this guy was one of the ones in the middle?
