went to the dr two weeks ago with a stabbing pain just below my ribcage in the middle of my body
they said it could be an ulcer and gave me some nexium to take twice a day
its gotten better but i still get sharp pains and loss of appetite. also, i have sudden urges to take a shite and when i run sometimes i will shite 3-4 times during a run at the gym. is that consistent of an ulcer or is it more IBS?
coffee and salsa have been kicking my arse when i eat or drink it. i know this can wreck havoc on ulcers
ill go 3-4 days straight with diarrhea. im really getting tired of it

Sounds miserable. Dad fought bleeding ulcers for 3 or 4 years until they actually went in and cauterized them. Hope you can get in control of them soon.

I think I had one. A couple of years ago I had a really dull kind of feeling right under my rib cage in my gut. I ignored it and it went away.

I've had them before, they're really painful. Try laying off regular food for a couple days, maybe try some nutrition drinks like Ensure.

In college, I was feeling like shite for a few days, no appetite, cold sweats etc. didn't know what was up but I just thought it was a stomach bug.
i was helping a friend move a couch, next thing I know I woke up in a pool of shitty blood, which had came out my a-hole. Had a bleeding ulcer in my stomach and lost like half my blood. When I got to the hospital in the ER, doctor came in, checked me out, and left. Nurse told me it was ok to get up and clean myself off a bit. Well I got up, next thing I know I wake up in another pool of shitty blood. Had to have it cauterized and spend a few days in the hospital. Thought I was gonna literally die
Turns out I took too many Advil to try and alleviate a sprained ankle I had. Bad idea
Stop with the spicy foods and take the nexium

Stabbing pain isn't really classic for ulcer pain, which is more like a burning pain. Does eating make it better or worse? Have you been taking NSAIDs often? Do you drink a lot of alcohol?
Ulcers shouldn't really affect your bowel habits. Have you ever noticed blood or mucus in your stool?
Decreased appetite is concerning as well. Have you ever been scoped?
TLDR you should probably go see a GI doctor ASAP if you just saw a general practitioner.

Sounds more like a gallstone than an ulcer. I've had both. The gallstones were pain and shits that didn't let up with meds. The ulcer was just pain that let up up with some meds.

I've had one, and it still occasionally flares up. The symptoms don't sound consistent with mine, but I'm no doctor.

I was buying my first house years ago and had limited days to do some painting a little renovations before I had to get out my apartment. I couldn't drink certain things or eat certain foods without throwing up. By the time I finished the hose Etc they gradually subsidied.

poke the lower right side of your stomach. what do you feel?

Most stomach ulcers are actually due to bacteria, believe it or not. You can manage the symptoms all you want, but if you don't treat it with antibiotics, you're pissing in the wind.

Try laying with your head elevated and breathe slowly and deeply when the pains come. That was the only thing that helped mine. If you're never had one before, it hurts like hell and shows up out of nowhere.

I was just diagnosed with gastritis heading to an ulcer. Motrin is one of the causes. Was told no ibuprofen, no caffeine, no chocolate, no tomatoes or tomato based products, no fried foods, no carbonated drinks, no alcohol. So, I'm off the diet coke, my one vice, and making some changes to my diet. Hoping it gets better soon. Not digging this pain.

Do you still have your gallbladder?

That's one way to stop people from asking you to help them move.

Yes still have gallbladder and appendix
Gallstones is interesting. shite man I can't give up all that stuff you mentioned.
Dr said me eating a huge dinner is bad because of the stomach acid it produces from a huge meal. I normally get most my calories at dinner.

I had one once when I was younger. I went to the mall with my grandmother because she wanted to buy me clothes (which she never lets me choose). While she was looking at magazines, I quickly made my way to the hot sauce shop. There I bought three different types of scorpion pepper sauce and held them in my hoodie. One in Dillards, my grandmother made me go in the dressing room to try something on. So while in there, I pulled out the hotsauce bottles and began chugging one. Well I only got through one before I was puking up blood. My grandmother opened the door and rushed me to the hospital. I ended up with a stomach ulcer for a little while, but she never took me shopping again.

you got some options
first thing, find another quack to diagnose you. you def need a 2nd opinion.
it is well known that h. pylori is responsible for ulcers....and there's a 2 week regime with 2 different antibiotics to kill it off
so, you'll first need to verify in fact you do have ulcers...then you can proceed
you'll have to fix your diet
you'll also need to take probiotics...like kefir to help the body heal itself
then after it's all over with...better sit down and re-evaluate your diet and make some permanent changes....i'd choose a naturopathic physician for diet help, you'll likely choose something else
best wishes
