Difficult to imagine a more incompetent policy rollout than this:
1) Zero tolerance policy on the border, resulting in family separation;
2) Instead of explaining that zero tolerance requires family separation, talk about family separation as a deterrent;
3) Send out idiots like Corey Lewandowski to look hateful;
4) Blame Congress, rightly, saying it's up to the legislature;
5) Back down and sign an executive order.
Just idiotic from start to finish. family separation as a deterrent;

John Podhoretz
it's idiotic because they are acting in bad faith

Ben Shapiro
They just made that case themselves. And that's frustrating for those of us who (rightly) argue that legally speaking, Trump can't unilaterally change policy like this.

Pretty much agree here.

Difficult to argue any of those points. And that will be the general perception...right or wrong

The policy itself is working as it was intended.

the issue is the optics

You and Ben don't know what you agree on.

As smart as Ben appears that was a very ignorant tweet.

Do you know what "stipulated removal" is and why it destroys the entire faux outrage coming from the dim witted left?

Is Ben aware of Israel's Immigration policies? For sure he is or he wouldn't have typed that out.

So you agree with this? Then why are Democrats calling for Trump to do this?

I see we've made the rounds and are now back to the strategy of get outraged over a preexisting policy and attack Trump on how he handles it. Now we all know what will happen: Trump will fix the long-present problem and everything will be the better for it.

Nope, the evidence suggests that it would take a few more weeks before people coming from south America would get the message and actually be deterred from coming. The flow of migrants hasn't slowed at all since the implementation of the zero tolerance policy.

yeah and the permanent psychological damage to kids, so there's that too.

Still worried about Lewandowski. That guy lives rent free in Ben’s head after he owned the little slug.

Even Michael Cohen disapproves.

quote:

Cohen also criticized the administration's policy of separating migrant children from their parents at the southern border, the first time he’s distanced himself from the president.

"As the son of a Polish holocaust survivor, the images and sounds of this family separation policy is heart wrenching,” Cohen wrote. “While I strongly support measures that will secure our porous borders, children should never be used as bargaining chips."

Wonder why he's openly criticizing a Trump policy.

Michael Cohen Resigns from the RNC.

I can: Obamacare.

While this immigration rollout was frustrating, the argument was already lost, and I think Trump understands politics a little bit better than Benji.

Trump has been steadfast on issues where Benji has second guessed him and Benji has been wrong almost every time.

I am a big fan of Trump never backing down and conceding, and my reaction is that as long as zero tolerance is maintained, I am okay with this executive order.

We are fricked.

I'm OKAY as long as they are deported in a timely manner together as a family.

But, if they allow them to stay out of jail or holding and then released into the nation for a court date 3 months from now I will be furious.

The idea of zero tolerance is simple: cross border illegally; arrested and detained; children held until the parents are ready for deportation; return kids to criminal family; send back to sender.

Way too soon to make any sort of inference.

We're over the talking point that this was a pre-existing policy.

Trump implemented a new policy several weeks ago. He's seems to be adjusting that policy change with his "executive order".
