Niko / Randle Playing Time

Am I the only one somewhat surprised at the PT of Niko/Randle. I kind of assumed their mins would be in a similar range but Niko seems to play more when the game is still in doubt.
Maybe it’s just early and it will even out over time with Al going with the hotter hand.

I think Niko just has the hot hand right now. I’m sure it’s going to balance itself out.

I think this is a reasonable take. Niko's experience in Gentry's system is probably why he seems to be more the 1A option at present. I would expect Randle's PT to gradually increase until it reaches its optimal point.

Their minutes are perfect...two of the big 3 are always on the floor together and they all compliment each others' games

I'd say Niko being in the system for part of last year plus shooting >50% from 3 in the first two games got him those crunch time minutes.

A) Knows the system better due to more games w/ the team
B) He is playing solid defense and rebounding like a madman while taking his already-known scoring ability to new heights.
He deserves more minutes right now.

I'm assuming it will depend on how Niko's shot is falling and what type of game it is. If it's high flying run and gun, Niko probably plays more. If another team tries to drag it out and it turns into a slugfest, Randle probably plays more.

So far it looks like the split (assuming a close game) is:
AD ~38
Niko ~31
Julius ~24
AD ~38
Niko ~31
Julius ~24

I agree 2 of the 3 needs to be on the floor at all times (when healthy). AD needs to be on the floor more than the other 2 bc he is better. I was just expecting Randle to have played more last night bc he seemed like the hotter hand. It very well could be that Randle still needs a little more time in Gentry’s system before he feels as comfortable.

Last night the Clippers went small so Niko was on the bench and Randle was going to finish the game until he fouled out. I think it's going to be matchup dependent like Gentry has said all along.

Agree. It just seemed like last night Randle was the hotter hand. I’ll admit I was just following the game on my phone and not watching on TV so my opinion may be a little off.

Gotcha. Didn’t realize that bc I was following the live updates and not watching. Didn’t catch he fouled out.

I'd rather that be closer to 35/30/30.
I think Randle has been sitting out a bit more b/c of whatever is bothering him, ankle or calf.

Reminder: Niko never averaged more than 25mpg prior to coming to the Pels. Ideally, they would like him in the 28-32 range. He was on fire the first two games..can't take him out
But last night, the plan going into the game was for Randle to finish because of the matchup. Niko's.lone weakness is his perimeter D and he can't cover Harris or Gallo out there.
I think Randle will finish against GS for instance, if KD and Draymond are the 4/5.
It will be matchup dependant and those two should hover around 28-32 mpg depending on the matchup. Less if it's a blowout and scrubs are in for the final six

Does anyone think they are going light on Randle to manage his Plantar Fasciitis this early in the season?

I think it was mixture of all the things said in this thread.
Newness
Minor injury
Matchups
And he fouled out

I think it's been great so far. I am loving the active passing all three of them bring.

I thought we were addressing the amount of minutes they play in first half. We need to be deeper than 3 man rotation in front court. It is long season. Gotta start getting more minutes from diallo and okafor

Randle can run, doe. I’m sure Al has his reasons. IDGAS as long as we win
