Trying to go to South America in 2019, and this would obviously be one of the coolest experiences. I see a lot of the stuff is cruise based, or you can do hotel based ones where you do daily cruises to islands.

Anyone done one? The prices look pretty fing high (5K for the cruise ones for 7 days or so) but you are staying on a boat and it seems pretty luxurious overall

Hola, Senor!

Did Galapagos 2 years ago and cannot recommend it enough.

We did the hotel-based experience, but it came with a yacht for the excursions.

Pikaia Lodge

It's 5 star all the way, including the yacht and the full time Galapagos biologist that accompanies you.

We are planning to go back and can't wait.

Hands down, our favorite trip (and we have been fortunate to go on some pretty good ones).

So we are looking at 5K minimum right?

I'm trying to decide if that is in my price range right now. Seems real steep for a week, but I know it would be incredible

Thanks

It's certainly a bucket-list type trip. And worth every penny.

Definitely will blow your mind--changed the way I looked at the world and fellow man.

Looks nice but the prices are outrageous. We did a 3-week honeymoon in Europe for what is cost for 3-4 nights here.

I did e days and 4 nights back in 2015. I will post when I get back in the US on hotels and tours.

It was expensive for Ecuador, but cheaper than DC. For example we went out for dinner and had lobsters for around 20 dollars.a person.

Bust recommend to go. Beautiful and nature was amazing.

We flew ina and out of Quayaquil

Yeah. That's too profound a statement for not much details. Need him to flesh this out a bit. I'd like to know what package they picked from the site he linked. Looks like the minimum there is close to $8K per person. Have a bunch of questions.

To follow up, I stayed at the Finch Bay Eco hotel with the wife. It was around $250 a night when we went.

The positives it is off the grid a bit as when in downtown you take the boat across the bay to the path. From there, staff will meet you and take your luggage (believe me you want this).

The hotel had a nice pool, an ok beach (do not think there is much of nice ones around that area) but decent drinks and food when we were there. Mainly ate downtown.
