San Antonio Spurs and that deranged coach? Or another team? Did it happen under GWB? Certainly not under Obama. So now, with a new heaping of derangement from the lame bitches of the dull sport of soccer, we have this:
- if your team (and/or captain) leans Left, you go to the Senate and House of Reps
- if you are reasonable/center as a squad, you take the traditional visit, the White House

(at least through 2020 or 2024)

So athletics IS OFFICIALLY politics now. How do they not care that they are insulting approx. half the country by doing this?

The media started it. They saw a crack and drove a wedge into it.

People joke about blaming LeBron for everything, but this really does fall on him. His bullshite spewing about Trump a few years ago got this started and then Golden State became the first team to refuse to go.

Amazing how these moronic athletes believe everything the media feeds them.

looks like it's been going on for a while, but it's not a tradition that old. Seems like it was irregular before the 70s or 80s.

looks like a couple declined for all presidents, all though the first documented of declining due to politics comes from Bush 41 i think.

I have no problem w/ players that don't want to go to the White House. I would not have gone for Obama, but I would not have made it about me nor disrespected the country/flag/national anthem. Just don't go and leave it at that.

I get that the players want to be involved in politics, but I always find this shite to be stupid. All you hear from the left is that they want to start a conversation. What better way to start a conversation with someone that you don't agree with than by going to the fricking White House and having a conversation with the President?

In 1869, President Ulysses S. Grant, an Ohio native, hosted the Cincinnati Red Stockings, baseball’s first pro team.

My favorite excerpt from a civil war letter. It was a union soldier writing from camp.
'We were playing a game of base ball when we heard shots from the woods beyond center field. We knew it was rebels so we raced back to our tents to get our rifles.
When we returned the rebels had fled. But they had taken our center fielder prisoner. Unfortunately, he had the ball.'

It certainly goes back further than that.

Some musicians have been critical of the president within their own content.

Land of Confusion came out in 1986 and took aim at the Reagan admin

I'm sure there are examples that far predate that as well
