Serious question on Austin tailgating and the PoPo

Long story short...I ruptured my Achilles 7 weeks back and don't have plans on missing tailgating nor the game this weekend in Austin. To do this, I have a battery powered mobility scooter lined up to rent so I can get all around (yes like the old folks cruise around in, I know your all jealous).
With that said....does anyone know the laws on if you could get a DUI riding one of these things? I saw someone ask about walking around with open container and this came to my mind given my situation. I know you can get one on a boat and have heard of people getting it on a golf cart, but never heard of anyone getting one on a mobility scooter.
In all seriousness though....I can't be getting a damn DUI on a fricking handicap scooter. Any of you law baws or dedicated alcoholics have any insight into this?

You ruptured your Achilles or your pussy?

You certainly can. But I doubt you will unless you’re wheeling that thing into the road

APD will absolutely be out in force. If they can cite you for something, they will.

A DWI charge is certainly a risk while operating one of those scooters. If you can get a DWI on a bicycle, what makes you think you can’t driving a motorized scooter?

Dammit, I love this board

Just try it and let us know what happens

You can't get a DWI on a bike. Not in Louisiana anyway. If Texas is the same, if you are in anything with an engine/motor, you can get a DWI.

If you can get away with it, that would be fun as hell to ride around and drink all day before the game. Maybe attach an LSU umbrella for some shade. Hang a few mardi gras beads off the side

APD’s second favorite thing to do, after ignoring homeless people, is to issue citations. So tread lightly.

I have some scooter accessories on order from Amazon, will make my ride comfy

I would love to see someone get a DWI for being drunk while driving a motor powered scooter

My cousin is a trooper (desk job) with the Austin Handicapped Scooter Patrol ("AHSP"). They do patrol athletic events and concerts and will write you up for DUI.

I've lived in Austin for 47 years. This has not been my experience, ESPECIALLY on game day. You've got to be savagely drunk or do something supremely stupid to get arrested on game day in Austin.

I didn't read your question, only the Austin PoPo in the subject line. Imagine the blue oyster bar scene in Police Academy.

there is no tailgating on the UT campus or parking lots
