Can be anything. Post whatever stories you have long or short. I enjoy reading about the joy LSU brings to other people just as it does to me. After reading all those posts about the dorms I was interested in seeing what other stories you all got. Lets hear them.

I wouldn't expect too many responses tonight at 2:30.

Bitch, real fans wake up in the middle of the night just to post.
Insomnia is the real bitch though.

The first time I walked into Death Valley as a student 3 hours early. I just sat down, and stared at the most magnificent sight my eyes have ever seen. All my fellow Tigers, the EMPTY stands, then watching the warmups of the players, then hearing the pregame band performance... WOW it gives me chills just watching it on youtube, let alone being there. Then leaving the stadium for me is an emotional moment, because I know I have to wait another week or 2 to get back to my promised land which is Death Valley.
Im not originally from Louisiana, but when I moved here I heard about the magic of DV, but never really experienced it until this year, so Im going to tell everyone who has never been to a game at LSU. DV on saturday night is BY FAR the greatest experience an LSU fan can have.

Organic chemistry test tomorrow
, looks like i wont be sleeping anyway, sounds like time for the 4th post. Best memory has to be the final touchdown during this years auburn game. I couldn't talk for a week afterwards.

My first time to ever run out on the field in uniform. The sidelines during recruiting were not even close. Very surreal/magical experience.
And, the little one's hanging over by the shute door at the end of the game asking for anything you'd give them......I donated elbow pads. Didn't matter if you were a starter or not.
Magical.

I could write a book, but here are the highlights. Mostly Band Stuff, so anyone not interested in GBFTL, just skip this........
High School- The Ole Miss "Jones to Davis with 4 seconds" game. Had a seat on the west side 5 yard line real low. My buddies got tickets right there in SE corner of the south endzone and had a birdseye view of the Davis catch.
LSU student- Fall 1974. Freshman only pre-season GBFTL practice. Hated it. Almost quit before the season started. Didn't like the "Military Drill/Pagentry style that TB used back then and had trouble with it. Stuck it out because I wanted to be in the band so bad. Marched all the Pre-Games and few halftimes that year. Went on to receive one of three "101 %" awards given at the end of the year by the band director. (Swor) Will never forget the first March to the Stadium (Down the Hill) and Pre-Game.
Sat out 75 season.
1976- New Band Director. (Rouse) Played Rocky and Star Wars ad infinitum ad nauseum. Rumblings of discontent amongst some of my fellow drummers. We wanted to switch to "Drum and Bugle Corps" style. With threat of boycott, we convinced Rouse to make the switch in 77, which he had been planning all along.
1977-In just one year we went from one of the worst percussion sections in The SEC, to one of, (if not the best)Corps Style drumlines. Band had trouble adapting to the new style.
1978-Liberty Bowl in Memphis. Froze our butts off. Really showed up the Missouri Band and Drumline in particular. Football team lost the game 20-15. Remember walking several miles down the interstate late at night in freezing temps becaus we and a few other drummers were so hungry.(Because restaurant in hotel was closed) Wound up at some Chicken place in Ghetto Hood. Dat chicken be sum good shite, but we froze.
1979- The infamous USC game. Nuff said.
Got to spend a week in Orlando for the Tangerine Bowl. Got to march through Walt Disney World. Beat Wake Forest 34-10. (Got to talk briefly with "NEW" WWL Sportscaster Jim Henderson on the sidelines right before halftime.)
1980- Arrival of Wickes. Band greatly improved. Band road trip to South Bend, Indiana for the Notre Dame game.
1981- First Bass Drum Solo in Tiger Stadium during "Sing Sing Sing"
1982- The Orange/Fog FSU "Winner goes to Orange Bowl" game (55-21 LSU). Another Bass Drum Solo during "Big Noise from Winnetka." Losing to fricking p arse poor Tulane Green Slime the next week 31-28. Orange Bowl against Nebraska.
LSU Alumnus/Civilian 1983- The Washington game. (40-14 LSU) Covered this game for a small daily newspaper in Slidell. I kept saying to myself how this really SUCKS to not be playing in the band any longer.
EVERYTHING after this was anti-climatic. Was in the stadium during the Arnsparger, Archer, Hallman, DiNardo and Saban years, but it's never been the same thrill for me. (Kind of like what John Ed Bradley wrote about in his book)
Attend Band Alumni Reunion every few years. (Surely NOT this year for an opening game at 4pm)
Never made it into any of the National Championship games...........

circa '55 or '56 going to my first LSU game vs. Texas A&M. Tickets were $1 for family plan tickets in the South upper deck (Dad was faculty)
'50's and 60's--going to campus on Saturday with my Dad as he taught and did office work...wandered around and soaked up LSU.
'67 first summer there out of high school. Great place to begin college
'69 In the band (waited till my third year to join). Trips to Houston, Jackson. Went 9-1 and didn't go to a bowl game...will always hate ND for that one.
'69 Auburn 20-LSU 21 on blocked extra point
'69 whomping Ole Miss with Casanova and Burns returning three punts for TD's
'70..left a year early and went to Med School. One of the bigger mistakes of my life was to pass up the 4th year in college, especially LSU.
'72 Ole Miss last second game
TNTC

The night of the '97 Florida game....after stuffing our pockets with TS Grass...just walking all over the campus all night long, smoking cigars and hugging complete strangers. Geaux Tigering people from across the parade grounds at 4:30 in the morning...Watching the sun rise while hanging outside West Laville - again just a complete group of total strangers just sitting together talking about the game...then walking over to eat some pepper jack hash at Louie's.
It was the quintessential 'college experience'.

Student from 00-05
I can't decide between the '01 Auburn Game and the '03 UGA game (Regular season not SECCG).

This probably won't rank on many people's lists, but the "Bring Back the Magic" game against #6 Auburn in '95. Troy Twillie came up with the pick on the last play of the game in the end zone...incredible.
Rusing the field as a student in '97 when we beat then #1 Florida. I still have endzone grass from that game.
Warren Morris's home run to win the CWS...the game that made me the LSU fan I am today.
I was at the '03 NCG against Oklahoma, I teared up a little at the trophy presentation...I never thought I'd see LSU win a national title in my lifetime.

Hodson to Fuller 1988. My wife and I's first game together in TS. I asked her to marry me that night. The rest is history.
Our first child was born almost to the day 6 years later.

1.The day of my last exam. My professor got caught in traffic on I-12 (interstate was shut down), and he called us via cell phone canceled the exam and gave us all A's for it. That was my last exam as a student at LSU. I then walked over to the PAW Prints shot to print out my last project presentation to hand in. The guy gave it to me on the house. It would normally be about 20-30 bucks. Then went to the pool and got drunk with my friends!
2.The day I got my acceptance letter to LSU.
3.The days of playing "You Honk We Drink" at my house on the corner of Jennifer Jean and Burbank.

For me, I'd have to say it's 9/20/86 Miami of Ohio game. I'm from that area, and it was sweet to see the MAC have a significant W.
