Let's make them change the name of their university. Saw this in another thread.

Elihu Yale

quote:

Elihu Yale (5 April 1649 – 8 July 1721) was an American born British merchant, slave trader, President of the East India Company settlement in Fort St. George, at Madras, and a benefactor of the Collegiate School in the Colony of Connecticut, which in 1718 was renamed Yale College in his honour.

Anyone that has the resources to get this out into the public eye for these liberal nutjobs, please do.

They're tearing down statues, renaming buildings, streets, etc.

Fight fire with fire.

I'd rather not contribute to the insanity.

It's not just Elihu Yale. The name 'Yale' makes people think of Yale Locks. What are locks used for? That's right, securing chains. Around slaves.

I think its time we had a conversation about abolishing locks...

While we're at it, let's go after Rice University too.

quote:

At the outbreak of the Civil War he left his home to be used as a military hospital and transferred his business to Matamoros, where he operated through the federal blockade. Though he was a slaveowner with fifteen slaves in 1860 and served on the slave patrol for a year, he identified with the Unionist cause.

How about Brown University? Nicholas Brown, Sr. attempted to be a slave trader, but his one and only voyage ended when 109 of the 196 slaves aboard the ship died.

Don't forget Emory University in Atlanta. John Emory was a slave owner and anti-abolitionist.

I'm surprised this hasn't been suggested on CNN. lol Almost all of them are from Ivy League schools, surely they know about Yale's history.
