Why has Jake Gautreau not been considered?

Is LSU’s ego too big to hire an assistant coach? Seems to have worked well for Tennessee.
He’s currently Miss St’s recruiting coordinator and hitting coach. And he might be the best coach on their staff.
He’s an ELITE recruiter with Louisiana roots. Continually poaches kids from the state. Even had top-5 classes at Tulane.
We also know he can develop. These past three CWS Miss St teams have all been either top 5 or top 10 in their respective offensive categories.
I mean what am I missing here? Does the current admin have no balls to hire someone who hasn’t had a CWS appearance as an SEC head coach
He’s better than Bianco! Go get him!

I wouldn't be against it. Just doesn't seem to fit a Woodward type hire.

I’m a firm believer that LSU isn’t a place you come to learn how to be a head coach. You need to have that on your resume before coming.

Well that’s bullshite and just shows how pompous we are if we pass up an opportunity to hire a great baseball coach from a rival school.
That’s Texas type shite mentality which will keep you in mediocrity. He’s clearly better than Bianco

It could be a simple as them still being in the tourney.

Could be! Didn’t someone make a rumor that the BoS shut down a contract to approve Andy Canizaro as a new asst baseball coach. Maybe I’m making it up but, sounds like he could be on the staff IF Gautreau somehow gets the job

Cause they are scared of going away from the chalk & it back firing. They are trying to be as risk averse as possible. I get it. It’s a top 3 program. You kinda have to be. But if you can coach you can coach. I wish they’d make some concessions.

So hiring a guy that has done jack shite in the postseason over 20 years with great recruiting classes is risk averse??
I mean if we were Kentucky, I get it. But this is LSU, we play for Championships, not participation trophies.

Lol. So now the rant wants a coach with ZERO head coaching experience?
Never change ranters. Lol.

It has crossed my mind that this search does seem to be very small. I’m not a super knowledgeable baseball guy, but the search seems to be either SEC guy or guy with LSU connections + Pat Casey.
There has to be some guys that at the very least are worthy of interviews up North, or towards the East and West coasts.

I would rather have an up and comer that shows promise than someone that has proven they can’t win in the postseason for 21 years….

The admin might, but my goodness the melt on tRant would be insane, if we hire an assistant.
Also, what TN has accomplished, is the floor for most LSU fans...

Program was in a slightly different place when Skip was hired and where it is now. It’s the most pressure packed job in the sport and the coach would already have to learn how to deal with that no matter their experience. I’m sorry if I don’t want them to also have to deal with figuring out how to be the man in charge of everything. Would Alabama football hire a head coach without head coaching experience? Or how about Kentucky basketball?
