Louisiana REAL ID - effective 10/1/21

So let me get this straight. Back in 2016 the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles Statute/Title 32 was revised to make October 1, 2021 the effective date for a REAL ID requirement, which affects a person's ability to domestic travel etc. That was 5 years ago.
Now fast forward to the present, and you are seeing mandatory vaccines, talks of vaccine only passports etc.
Does anyone else see a pattern here or is this the greatest coincidence in history?

Well, you're wrong here. Try to keep up with current events. Real ID doesn't go into effect until 2023. LINK

Postponed to may 2023 already

Thanks for the link. You furnished it from a federal website and I read 10/1/21 directly from Louisiana OMV expresslane.org.
Doesn't surprise me that it got extended, I just find it a bit perplexing when you match it up with say Kamala saying people can't go to Kinko's for voter id etc.

It’s ridiculous you have to go in person to the DMV. You should be able to mail the requested documents to them.

Exactly. And they're requiring an additional 2 forms of in-person documentation than just the normal picture id and social security card. How does this federal mandate from 5 years ago (that Louisiana adopted) jive with all the new liberal talk about no voter id etc. Why extend this requirement 19 months out to 2023, why not just scrap it altogether?

Yeah, the pattern is that most states are nowhere close to being able to fully and competently implement Real IDs, and that is a clue as to how big of a clusterfrick any move to "vaccine passports" will be.

A pattern of bureaucratic incompetence? Real ID was signed in to law 16 years ago and is still a clusterfrick.

If it’s a pattern that extends to vaccine requirements, my grandchildren are going to grow old hearing announcements about the COVID vaccine deadlines being delayed.
Also,

I think you are mistaken. Louisiana started offering Real ID-compliant licenses in 2016. The deadline has always been federal. The Real ID Act was passed in 2005… 16 years ago.

And how is a new type of ID card like a mandatory vaccine anyway?

Right. So no RealID and no voter ID. Sounds like a good compromise.

This law was signed by Bush, it was delayed until 2013, then 2017, then 2021, then 2023.....
FYI, if you have a passport, you are good and don't need to do this.

you would think the states that implement it would share their secrets for their success

I would say that the Real ID thing shows that Louisiana has the greatest procrastinators in history.
